To ask if your husband/partner goes to the gym or exercises regularly?

And, if so, do you?

The reason I ask is that I have noticed a discrepancy in the typical age ranges of gym goers. I see men of all ages (18-70's) at the gym at all times of the day. However, I mostly only see women either younger than 25 or older than 40. I see relatively few 30yo women at the gym, but lots of 30yo men - many wearing wedding rings.

Then, I notice on here many threads from women with younger children looking for tips on home workout videos, how to get in shape without a gym, etc.

I sometimes think that mothers are staying home while fathers feel free to take time to exercise.

Just curious to hear your annectdata!

When my kids were small I was living in a remote part of the Highlands. There was no gym within an hour's drive. Just a pool, and I don't enjoy swimming. The only exercise I could get was hill walking and running, so that's what I did. My husband was very sedentary and a home body.

I have always just taken whatever time I needed.

Now we live in an urban area. My husband goes to the gym 5 days a week. He has a PT one day and he likes being made to work harder. On his own, he's less motivated. When he started, I went with him to show him some things for the first week. I got cranky and was so relieved to go back on the road and work out alone, again.

He does the school run then goes to the gym. I think he might like classes but he's much too shy. I wish we could afford the PT 3x a week!

I have started taking a yoga class on Saturday mornings - yoga is different somehow in my feelings towards classes!

I'm 42 and walk a lot with my dogs, can go to the gym every day for a week then not for 6 months.
Husband is 44 and does martial arts twice a week, runs occasionally, mtb or road bike on a Sunday for about 3hrs and goes to the gym several times a week.
I'm very overweight but fit, he's just very fit! Our kids are 16 and 20 so not very needy these days 😊

My DH goes to the gym at least once a day and sometimes twice a day.

If he goes in the morning he will go between 5-7am so he’s back by the time we are getting up.

If he goes in the evening he will typically go 8-10 once the children are in bed.

I don’t train with my husband either. Maybe because the kids are so young so one or the other has to be in charge of them but I also think it’s good we study different things

I swim 3 times a week and my dh goes in lunch break at gym near work.

We in our 40s 3 kids 11 to 2. I run 5ish times a week n try do one class. Dh swims 2-3 times a week will try get out Mt biking at the weekend for hr or 2 if we free. Its easier for me I work from home so do a 30/40min run at lunch or else I'll run while DC at football training r something. So pretty equal. I get out more but dh spends longer when he goes.
