Any make-up fans here, is this an underwhelming Xmas present?

I’m trying to get sorted for Xmas. My sister in law is 27 and loves make up, she has some products from expensive brands but can only buy these rarely given the cost.

Our budget for her Xmas present is £30ish, I was wondering whether to buy her these lip glosses as HUDA Beauty is a brand that she likes but it’s a bit out of her price range. It’s a very small present however, my concern is that she’ll be a bit underwhelmed given it’s the size of a stocking filler!

What do you think, do you think you’d like receiving this (assuming it was a brand you liked)?

Yes I’d love that! It’s a lovely gift if she likes make up and this brand in particular.

MonteCarla · 16/10/2018 11:20

That is a fantastic gift from a great brand. I’m a make up geek and I’d love it.

bridgetreilly · 16/10/2018 11:21

Small present from expensive brand sounds like something she'd want much more than big present from cheap brand. I'd do it.

BarbedBloom · 16/10/2018 11:22

I love makeup and would be pleased with it. When you are buying from premium brands, it is expected that you won’t get a huge bag of stuff

InstagramPork · 16/10/2018 11:23

I’m 31 and would love that as a gift

GreenLantern53 · 16/10/2018 11:23

i would be happy with that

Fluffyears · 16/10/2018 11:23

I’d love it. I always prefer a smaller better present that a lot of cheap tat. My mum insists on buying absolute crap so it looks like a lot. I’d rather get one nicer gift but it’s not polite to say so.

Lost5stone · 16/10/2018 11:24

I'd be very happy with that.

Fashionista101 · 16/10/2018 11:24

Oooooh definitely! I also always really appreciate a pallet (eyeshadow/highlight/contour) as I realise I have to buy my own expensive foundation etc so appreciate the pallets as they are expensive but last forever! X

twoshedsjackson · 16/10/2018 11:26

Not a makeup geek myself, but a small amount of high-end brand that will be used and appreciated seems a much better deal than a larger gift of something cheaper that won't be used. I think she will appreciate the fact that you have actually bothered to track down a brand which she likes and uses; it shows that you really thought about her, rather than the flashy gesture, even when your budget is tight!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/10/2018 11:27

That's a great gift. I'd sooner a Chanel lipstick or nail polish than something big for the same price!

AuntBeastie · 16/10/2018 11:28

Lovely gift from a really good brand! I would be really chuffed with that. Plus the glosses may be small but they go a long way and are very luxurious.

Peacockfeathers789 · 16/10/2018 11:28

Thank you so much, that’s sorted then! Smile

Fashionista - yes I was debating between one of their 4-colour eye shadow pallets and the lipglosses! I love the bigger rectangular pallets but they will definitely bust the budget!

I think this is a lovely gift and being a make up lover she'll know it's not one of the five quid ones from the supermarket. She'll also be able to mix the shades or do ombré lips with them if that's her thing.

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 16/10/2018 11:42

YES! Can you be my sil please. I would much rather something tiny that I will love to death and use, the a bigger cheaper set that's quality is questionable that I won't really use 😊😊

BarbaraofSevillle · 16/10/2018 11:46

I wish more people thought like this, buying the small but good quality item instead of a giant piece of cheap crap 'because it looks better'.

I'd swap every single giant tub of Quality Street, massive boxes of standard biscuits or 'half price' Thorntons crap for a mini selector pack of Hotel Chocolat chocolates, but people won't buy me those 'because they don't look like much' even though that's what I want.

Fashionista101 · 16/10/2018 11:47

Yep, not cheap are they!

Andtheresaw · 16/10/2018 11:50

Great call.
I took advice on here last year and got my SD a UD Naked palette instead of the big generic brand I was planning on. She wept with pleasure on Christmas Day!
If you keep checking between now and Christmas there's a good chance that the lipglosses will have at least one offer/sale day between now and Christmas to save you a little.

Peacockfeathers789 · 16/10/2018 11:54

@andtheresaw yes good shout thank you. I wanted to get organised early this year but to me that essentially means knowing exactly what I’m going to buy now, and then buying it closer to
Xmas (as opposed to the disorganised mess I become every single year!)

I would love that huda is expensive but the products are amazing

RonniePickering · 16/10/2018 11:58

My daughter loves expensive makeup, she'd be thrilled with that.

user450246 · 16/10/2018 12:01

yes, another make up fan - I'd rather someone spent £30 in sephora or space NK on something lovely than £30 on something that looked big. Sign up to the newsletter - space nk and sephora will both run promos around thanksgiving etc.

Abetes · 16/10/2018 12:02

I’d always prefer something small from a really good brand than something larger from a brand I don’t rate.

Chanelprincess · 16/10/2018 12:11

I own this set and LOVE it - I'd be very pleased to get this as a present. She'll definitely appreciate the quality of this. It's one of the few collections in which I can easily wear every shade. Every colour looks fantastic on and amazing in photos too.

fifig87 · 16/10/2018 12:15

Love Huda! Those look fab. Have one of their big eyeshadow pallets and they are definetly worth the extra money.
