How much tech do your DC have?

I think my ex is spoiling our DD by buying her too much ‘tech’ but he won’t listen.

She’s 9 and for the last 3 Xmas / birthday (so since she was 7!) she’s had iPhone for birthday, laptop for Christmas, newer iPhone for birthday and he’s talking about buying her an iPad for Christmas. AIBU to say I don’t want her to have the iPad as it’s unnecessary and I worry he is spoiling her?

What tech do you dCs have and at what ages etc?

The thing is with mobile phones, if children are out playing with friends or waking home from school, is adults need to realise that phone boxes just aren't as prevalent as they were when we were younger. I could call home from 5 locations (off the top of my head) in my childhood village. I think now there may be one, if it works.

Dd(10) has my old iPhone from when I upgraded 2 years ago m, iPad mini and Alexa dot. She wants a laptop for Christmas.

My son is 5, he has an IPad which is controlled but to be fair he is not that interested in games,, he also has an Amazon Echo in his room so he can turn on lights when its dark on a morning. This does get removed if he starts asking for stories and music when its bedtime, he is good with this and it's not very often I need to remove it.

He also has an account on my Surface book that he logs on with facial recognition, I'm starting to teach him some computer basics.

He has an iPhone 5S with no SIM and he will get access if I'm away as he will call me on Facetime now and again, shows no interest in it when I'm around, but likes if I'm away.

I really use it for our benefit as that's what it's for, it's not about how much and how long but what they do and learn with it.
