Hospital wants to send me home after PPROM. I don’t want to go. Help.

Posting for traffic. My waters broke at home and were bright red, and I was 26 weeks with DCDA twins. I called an ambulance and was rushed to hospital where I had a huge gush of red fluid. I was counselled about preterm birth and given steroid injections. I saw a neonatal doctor who stated the most important thing was to deliver at a hospital with NICU cots.

Despite severe agonising pain, a week has passed and I haven’t given birth. Twins aren’t distressed and my observations are fine.

However I feel incredibly unwell. I keep burning hot and turning red but my temp is not raised. I feel like I have the flu or another illness. I have no energy and can barely move due to pain. Codeine won’t touch it. A midwife told me to have a hot bath which I am sure is contraindicated.

The staff want to send me home. I have stated I do not want to go home due to me living an hour from the hospital and the risk of infection, cord compression, preterm delivery and stillbirth. I do not want to lose my babies. I want to remain in the unit with NICU like the doctor advised.

Can anyone give me any advice? I can’t find any info on this anywhere and feel like the staff are fobbing me off.

Thinking of you having read the thread all the way through. You have been through so much. 

You and your babies are in my thoughts cats. I too have been where you are. 50:50 chance and worse at some points. You're doing an amazing job. Just keep on keeping on.

I've just read this thread with tears rolling down my face I'm also 28 weeks and I absolutely cannot imagine how scary this was.
You amazingly brave strong lady you did more than you should when you fought your corner and didn't back down.

Thinking of you Cats - just read the whole thread and as others have said, you have been amazing. Thoughts and prayers for all of you and especially for twin 2 xxx

They are both a good weight for their gestation. I won’t offer any platitudes. NICU is tough but the doctors will do their very very best for these tiny babies. I have been there with that sense of dread that they need to come out, knowing they were safer inside theoretically but knowing instinctively they needed to come out. I am sending all my love and good wishes for Twin 2.

Oh, Catseye, very well done you for listening to your instinct and protecting your little ones. And congratulations on the birth. I will be thinking of you and the twins, and especially twin 2. They are lucky to have you as their mummy. Don't forget to take care of yourself too, it can be easy to forget.

Just seen one of the twins has been given a 50-50 chance. I know how it feels to be told that, it’s terrifyinf. Hopefully they defy all odds and make a recovery. Hope all is well and things start to look up.

They've managed to reduce twin 2s oxygen. A good sign but still worried

That is a very good sign. Are they both ventilated?
