Let's hope it was secretly and not to upstage poor Eugenie!

I'd have been delighted if someone announced at my wedding. Their joy would add to mine not subtract from it! Why are people so odd about weddings?!

If you're so insecure that someone else getting some 'attention' on 'your day' is so upsetting then you need to work on your self esteem.

I think megs and haribo were instructed to get preggas when they did.
The nation is heading for a ginormous disaster at the end of March so what better way to distract the subjects than a royal baby.
I can see the headlines now, UK facing food and medical shortages. In other news a royal baby watch.
Very clever planning.
For queen and country 😅

I feel sad this was announced on baby loss awareness day. The day was significant to me and lots of others, I can't believe that the palace's team didn't research the day before an announcement was made.

Fwiw I'm no royalist but I like Meghan alot. I'm more disappointed in the management.

Or how about the possibilty that she's 37 newly married to a husband she loves and who clearly adores children, and they would like their family to grow up close to his brothers family so decided to crack on with it.Or is that too straightforward?
As for comparing weddings and wether Eugenie was upstaged.Personally for the first time around a royal event I felt narked about the whole carriage procession and huge guest list aspect and quietly felt the BBC were right not to do a costly outside broadcast .I didn't watch it live although I could have done, but thought she looke lovely and hope they are happy. But she had 200 plus more guests, plus an extra day of celebrations -largely driven by her parents it's speculated ,and that seems believable. I hardly think she felt upstaged.

If the above is anything like correct it seems Samantha's at it already

It's also reported that she's on holiday in Ireland ... a bit worryingly close to the rest of the Windsors isn't it?

Those who don't think logically regarding the pregnancy announcement are either trolls or someone from the relatives.

It is not about destroying self esteem, it is about good manners

If that was done during the wedding then it had been approved by the palace. It can't be done just like that! Also informing about the pregnancy is not upstaging the wedding FFS. They're all friends FFS. Some if not many would have already known about the pregnancy before the wedding, FFS. If she took the coat off then people would have talked. If she had a bigger coat then people would have talked. Her leather skirt the other week already showed a bit of a bump. FFS, stop being ridiculous, people and leave her alone.

If you're one of those relatives' you wished you've never had then of course you'd find anything to be upset.

I remember that when DH and I got married, his SIL was 8 weeks pregnant. She didn't share the news with us at our wedding so as not to steal our thunder. The best of intentions, certainly, but then she told my MIL, who somehow told my DM (why??) who then mentioned it in a fax to us at our honeymoon hotel (a completely unnecessary fax, btw).

So my DH got to hear the news from my DM. He would rather have heard the news during the wedding reception from his DB, who was also his best man.

It was quite funny, though, I thought.

Good news is always nice to share, why should it be stealing anyone else's thunder? (Unless my BIL has announced it in his best man's speech, which would have been inappropriate obviously.)

Was your DM in the habit of faxing people in hotels on holiday/honeymoon Lizzie Grin

That's my DM for you, it's why I can only cope with her in small doses. I expect the hotel staff found it very funny, though.

I agree MyKingdomForBrie. If you feel that someone else's joy takes away from yours, then it is you with the problem.

Come on, can you not see doing that is a bit weird? Would you do it to anyone else or like it done to you? Confused

Remember Eugenie’s wedding cost more than Harry’s and she’s not even 11th in line to the throne.

Cherries101 - online seems to suggest that H&M's wedding cost more, especially the security cost.

Various sources disagree with your statement. For example,

"The price tag for Eugenie’s wedding is dwarfed by the estimated £34million for Meghan and Prince Harry’s big day."
