... And believe I can actually do it this time!?

Tbf I have done SW successfully and lost weight before, trouble is I gained it all again.

Anyone have any helpful SW friendly motivation /inspirational comments to help a serial - failer at this woe!

Definitely get yourself on Rebel Fit on Facebook. Yes you have to pay to do a mission (they last about 3 months) but Liam posts so much about how the diet industry and SW in particular make people fat that it’s worth a read. He’s free to follow and if you just read all the articles he posts about the diet industry you will see that SW and it’s worship of Muller Shite yogurts is so damaging.

I have done SW several times and all it did was make me fatter. Now I’m working on balancing my blood sugar to help me lose weight - my god it’s slow - but I don’t feel guilty if I eat a slice of cake as Rebel Fit has taught me that the guilt of not sticking to a diet is what makes eat more.

I'm not on rebel fit but have looked at their web page, it looks nice but it's another thing to commit to and unsure I have it in me anymore

“I can't eat out and enjoy myself as I'm fretting over syns, I can't have a bowl of ice cream and some goodies and watch a film”

See... you can fit those things within your syns, just... probably not the in the same way as if you’re not doing SW... but those things are more than likely what’s caused you to gain weight? (I’m guessing obviously)

The thing is, there isn’t a way of losing weight that doesn’t mean restricting something.

It’s worth thinking about what it is that’s going to be a change you can stick with, because if you want to lose weight then you do have to make changes.

I am a SW member btw, for me it’s the best approach, any form of calorie counting makes me have a really really unhealthy relationship with food and I’m not up for cutting out whole food groups like carbs, I like carbs, lol.

It might be that SW isn’t the one for you, but meals out and having ice cream can absolutely fit in.

MillieCats · 13/10/2018 18:45

I second Team RH. Absolutely nothing is off limits as long as you can fit it in your macros. So if you want ice cream, you can plan your day around it. I'm used to calorie counting and using MFP anyway but it might take a few days to get your head around if you've not done it before, but once you've got it sussed it's dead easy.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 13/10/2018 18:53

I do the diet at home and weigh myself each week. However I don't always count the syns. I just follow the diet very basically, I fill up on the free foods which are low fat or fat free, high protein and limit bread. I don't use syns on cake, chocolate, crisps etc as soon as I do my weight loss stops or I put weight on.

PostNotInHaste · 13/10/2018 18:57

I spent years doing SW and WW, losing then regaining. Eventually I figured out that they didn’t work for me as regained so finally did so,etching else on my own where I’ve been much more successful.

If you’ve done it so many times and can’t maintain I can’t see the point and would find something else that suits you better.

Jengnr · 13/10/2018 19:04

@takiwaranga You can do those things, just not all in the same weekend. You need to make choices.

I often buy that Breyers or Halo Top ice cream. It’s not Ben and Jez but I’m also not a size 20 anymore so....

I have had nights out, I love drinking but I’ve cut certain things out (mostly) and cut down significantly. Every now and again I go wild but a couple of speed days balances me out.

Tbh, it doesn’t matter what you choose. If you want to lose weight something has to give. And if you want to sustain weight loss it has to give permanently. It sucks balls but that’s how it is. You need to find something you feel you can do forever. And if it is SW you need a group you like too. My group are a laugh so I enjoy going. Once I get to target I’ll still go as it’s fun. And it will keep me on track.

If I was sitting there night after night listening to Sandra talking about Muller Lights I might not still be going Grin

Takiwatanga · 13/10/2018 19:10

Jen, thank you! Your comment about not being a size 20 did make me lol

Yes, I guess I need to accept the deprivation and restriction is needed.

It's things like family meals too though, husband doesn't eat anything sw and then I have fussy kids too... Then adding a restrictive woe on top and I'm ready to commit hahaha

You can start any of these diets / plans. It doesn't matter; at the end of the day you will still need to stick with it and keep finding your motivation. SW will absolutely work for you if you stick with it. I would say though, learn about whichever one you pick. If you are going to choose slimming world, you will need to do something new with it.

If you have a different problem e.g. bingeing, just going to SW or WW will do nothing.

MustDust · 13/10/2018 21:43

The info on the rebelfit fb page is free,if it at least stops you doing another daft diet (sorry, 'a lifestyle change', it's almost like a mantra drummed into members since they all say it, doesn't make it true though) it'll stop you getting bigger.

Amanduh · 13/10/2018 21:50

I have done sw and lost and kept it off. My dad has too, but on a massive scale (12 stone.) I know i’m repeating the cliche, but its not about the actual syns etc etc, it’s the lifestyle change.
It will only change if your mindset does. It’s also getting over the fact you have friends who are skinny and eat shit 24/7 and stay thin!

Parrish · 13/10/2018 21:57

I find Team RH very difficult to follow. It’s not easy to get your head around and advice is patchy. Often you are made to feel stooopid....After 12 weeks, I am a lot fitter but I’ve put on 3 lbs.

Theromanempire · 13/10/2018 22:04

I am a total Team RH convert...2 1/2 stone down since Easter and I eat 2300 calories which always includes chocolate or sweets or cake every day Grin

However, I have given up alcohol but I realise I can't have it and achieve my goals. You have to make sacrifices - it isn't going to happen without that.

parrish I use my calorie club for advice and have always found it supportive and helpful.
