@MaisyPops

But I love my camelback! grin

CamelBak is owned by Vista Outdoor. More than 75 percent of Vista's business comes from gun and ammo sales—it’s one of the biggest ammo companies around.

Many Americans are boycotting CamelBak in the wake of the Florida shootings due to its ties to the gun industry.

MiniMum97 · 14/10/2018 22:06

I understand if you have an issue with the waste and plastic but why all the judgement about when people decide to drink. The latter is no one else’s business and certainly not something to get het up about.

GloomyMonday · 14/10/2018 22:15

""I have students attending 1 hour tutorials with me at University. They come loaded with their disposable coffee cups, their styrofoam take-away boxes and their disposable water bottles. We never teach over lunch (1pm-2pm)."

Because they in bed until the last minute and bring their breakfast drink with them?

Because the canteen offer them a choice between drinks 'to go' or to drink in, and they choose 'to go' so that they can take any unfinished drinks into lectures rather than leaving them.

Because they need caffeine to stay awake because they didn't get in until 4am.

Cookies2015 · 14/10/2018 22:26

Fair on the plastic point, but I cannot see why you would care about such things as people eating and drinking when they want that's bizarre. Just stop judging and get on with your own business

FairyFlake45 · 14/10/2018 23:38

I agree that drinking water is necessary.....I’m sure if you had a drink at home though, you can probably survive the journey to work without keeling over. What is wrong with tap water though? Just take a bottle of tap water with you on any journey and you’ll live...trust me.

I cannot remember the last time I bought a coffee (or whatever it is that Starbucks serves) or a fizzy drink. However, I am on a medication that makes my mouth dry and I find it quite uncomfortable. As a result, I carry a water bottle with me and sip throughout the day.

Many apologies for having offended the OP with my pasty mouth.

SisyphusHadItEasy · 15/10/2018 01:08

And before I get accosted by the plastic police, it is a refillable bottle which holds tap water. I don't see the logic in paying the extra for bottled water when the tap water in my home is just fine.

Mymomsbetterthanyomom · 15/10/2018 01:14

Wooooow!
Complaining because other people have water bottles or coffee with them.
You are PETTY.
I personally take 2 meds and they cause dry mouth and thirst so I am the queen of water bottles.
And it's no one's business if I use tap water or recycle.NUNYA BIZ!!!

3ChangingForNow · 15/10/2018 01:19

Seriously get a life.

squeekums · 15/10/2018 02:09

Judge away op
I like coffee, if i feel like one i will get one, simple.
Its safer for the public if ive got coffee

SleepingStandingUp · 15/10/2018 02:41

I understand about the plastic waste but why do you care if I quench my thirst?

MNMH · 15/10/2018 02:47

"I don't do this, and I don't like it, so NO ONE should do it, and anyone who does is WRONG". Hmm

Zbag · 15/10/2018 06:41

I always carry water with me, I try to drink at least 100 ounces a day. Water is essential no matter what the weather.

MaisyPops · 15/10/2018 06:53

@Antigon
I did not know that!
My first fluid pouch bag was a camelback. I love it (although the original fluid pouch inner went pop so I have a different active brand's pouch inside a camelback bag).
I might have to change my make when this bag breaks.

Teacher22 · 15/10/2018 06:59

Agree with the OP. Slurping non tap water out of plastic bottles and cups in a non-break situation is a bit like tattoos. Yes, they send a message - but it is not the story they are intended to tell.

As for being judgemental. Whatever people say they judge others all the time.

MNMH · 15/10/2018 07:23

How did tattoos enter the conversation? And now we're making moral judgments about on-the-go coffee and water sippers? If it bothers you that much, I think it's time to seek a professional.

Lillithxxx · 15/10/2018 07:32

I thought this was a pretty benign AIBU.
Boy was I wrong.

Supercaliwotsit · 15/10/2018 07:40

Ouch- this is escalating! I get the op’s point, it’s not about the individuals, it’s the climate of thinking we simply can’t manage to exist for an hour or 2 without food and drink in a constant flow. The point being made is that this is very recent. I actually remember this being a celebrity ‘ paparazzi’ type thing, that they’d get snapped with their bottle of water or coffee, before other ordinary ppl were following suit. For some younger ppl, it’s all they can remember- I accept that. I do take a bottle of water everywhere with me- I honestly think I need it- yet I remember the heatwaves of the 70s. No one carried a water bottle then. Tbh, it’s a pain, it’s bloody heavy to cart about, but I hate the feeling of panic when I realise I’ve forgotten it. And the fact that I’ve come to rely on it.

SoyDora · 15/10/2018 07:55

^ another one talking about slurping. How do you all manage to encounter so many people who don’t know how to drink properly?

RollaCola84 · 15/10/2018 08:06

teacher22 "non break situations", breaks ? What are those ? I get a lunch break and that's it, am I not allowed a drink for the four hours either side ??

Still with the slurping as well !! I don't think I've ever slumped water in my life, I drink it like a normal person.

MNMH · 15/10/2018 08:11

I find it hard to believe that this has anything to do with environmental concerns and everything to do with looking down on someone. The derogatory language towards people who carry water/coffee, the exaggerated adjectives - "slurping" - and the thinly veiled vitriol is more about feeling superior for not doing such an innocuous, trivial, everyday action. To put this much thought and anger into it is seriously unhealthy. I'd agree with the amount of waste being consumed if it were the actual subject of this thread, but it clearly isn't.

LittleBookofCalm · 15/10/2018 08:16

The thread/discussion is what you make it

Tattoos? I'm confused, could you elaborate?
