velcro trainers for 8 year old DS?

My AIBU is that this can't be that rare can it?

My 8 year old DS is dyslexic and I suspect dyspraxic in terms of fine motor things. He has not yet mastered tying laces, but we are working on it.

He is tall and now an adult size 3 in trainers. Can I find any with velcro fastenings in that size? Proper sporty ones he can run around in that are not thin material? I can't seem to find any anywhere.

Surely he can't be the only one?! Can any of you wise mumsnetters signpost me to velcro fastening trainers for awkward children?

Thank you in advance.

I have similar issues with my 8 year old. Adidas do Velcro straps, we have these:

Also, have you tried the elastic laces? My son has a pair of elastic lace trainers from NEXT and he loves them.
