To ask how much you have in savings...

We have just transferred virtually ALL our money over to our solicitor for our first house. I have gone from having nearly £60k to much much less than that.

I know everyone does it haha, but just feeling un-nerved at losing that nice safety blanket and I will be immediately starting to build it back up again.

Just interested in how much people have in their savings accounts?

£350.

But I have more debt than that!!!! A

mloo · 09/10/2018 20:50

me & DH together: about £200k.
(So now everyone can hate me.)
I was busy repairing DD's school bag this evening, & bring packed lunches to work every day. Hate spending money. Frugal habits for life.

ileclerc · 09/10/2018 20:50

£0.

Poisongirl81 · 09/10/2018 20:53

weird isn't it , people have all or nothing. think I'm the only middle ground!

IAmBeyonceAlways · 09/10/2018 20:55

£2500

AlexSc · 09/10/2018 20:56

£2 and proud :-)

Fairylea · 09/10/2018 20:56

Nothing and have about £15k of debt.

It sucks but we are a low income family - dh works full time, I have disabilities and ds has autism and learning disabilities. We have a low mortgage with lots of equity and just about muddle through. If we need a lot of money for something we have to remortgage (just did that last year for £20k to fix bits of the house that needed repairs).

AnnieAnoniMouse · 09/10/2018 20:59

Triple figures.

jq28 · 09/10/2018 20:59

Prob about £75k between us but £30k of that is going into our new mortgage when we move soon!

AnnieAnonIMouse · 09/10/2018 20:59

£1.11

Pumpkinpie789 · 09/10/2018 21:00

Around £40k. But it cost us £15k for fertility treatment to have DD... and we want another child.

OhFlipMama · 09/10/2018 21:00

£76. I'm very proud of that, it's taken two months of Chip savings (that's the app) to get this far. I am struggling to keep hold of it but aiming to.

flamingofridays · 09/10/2018 21:00

About 300 quid! We are also buying a house!

DowntonCrabby · 09/10/2018 21:01

I’ll add to the voice of the middle ground: £5k plus I think £7000 in premium bonds.

MissConductUS · 09/10/2018 21:01

It would be more but we overpay the mortgage by £400 a month

This is really smart if you can manage it. We saved thousands doing this. You have to think of it in terms of net worth - paying down debt increases your net worth just as putting money in the bank does, with the added benefit of saving on interest.

LadyFlangeWidget · 09/10/2018 21:02

300 quid.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 09/10/2018 21:03

It’s irrelevant to you, what anyone else has in savings. None of it’s going to help you if life goes arse up. You’re where most of us were after buying our first home. Brassic and praying, with a credit card in our back pocket, hoping not to need it.

Enjoy your new home. Dont buy too many nice new sparkly things and save what you can.

...but you do need 🥂🍾

leghairdontcare · 09/10/2018 21:04

£8 million.

Don't tell my husband.

Ohluckyme · 09/10/2018 21:05

Around £350k. Own our own home. Husband is very good with investing money. We are frugal.

SilverySurfer · 09/10/2018 21:05

Enough to get me to Dignitas if I ever start getting dementia.

WingsofNylon · 09/10/2018 21:05

mloo have you always hated spending money?

As I grow older I find myself hating it more and more but I don't know why. I don't have anywhere near what you have but I already feel uncomfortable at the idea of spending it.

champagneplanet · 09/10/2018 21:06

Between DH and I about £50k, we are homeowners and have no plans to move.

I try to be frugal, I save as much as I can and we're lucky to have a relatively small mortgage which allows me to.

Ohluckyme · 09/10/2018 21:06

Haha no just kidding -£2100 overdraft here 😂

PiperPublickOccurrences · 09/10/2018 21:07

None of your bloody business.

HTH.

thisneverendingsummer · 09/10/2018 21:08

Somewhere between £1.50 and 3 and a half million.
