Strictly affair - should they be forced to leave?

I know there’s a thread about Rebecca Humphries’ statement but I’ve been pondering another question. Should Seann and Katya be forced to leave the show?

I’ll be honest I don’t know my own mind on this one. Part of me feels the unprofessionalism could be grounds for the pair to be axed but the other side of me feels it’s none of our business and not to judge. What do you think?!

Hang on-did someone say Marcus Brigstock? What did he do?

Padparadscha · 09/10/2018 11:50

BertrandRussell, he cheated on his wife with someone from Emmerdale. He was very open about it on one of his recent radio shows.

Scrumptiousbears · 09/10/2018 11:52

Those saying it was just a kiss, do you believe this because they where only photographed kissing? Who knows what else happened.

Bluelady · 09/10/2018 11:52

It's not known for the Curse of Strictly for nothing. Of course they shouldn't get kicked out.

Santaclarita · 09/10/2018 11:54

BlackAmericanoNoSugar dunno to be honest. He wasn't that funny to begin with. Maybe he can save it, but he'd deserve it if he can't.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 09/10/2018 11:57

Yes, it’s a dance competition and it’s also a popularity contest. That’s why Lee Ryan left. He wasn’t the worst dancer, but he was not particularly popular and the choreography didnt suit him particularly.

Seann isn’t a good dancer. His partner is and produces very clever choreography that makes him look better than he is. He might become a competent dancer, as many other contestants in the past have.

I don’t care whether Neil is gay or not. I think he is wise to keep quiet because this is his career too and he’s been an extra for a number of years now. I do think that the ‘affair’ will have an impact on their popularity- whether to increase or decrease their vote. I think they were stupid to be so indiscreet. Plenty of others have had affairs, but haven’t rubbed their partner’s noses in it.

Tinkerbellisnotafairy · 09/10/2018 11:58

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar - The only time I've had any sort of moral quibble with sex or relationships on Strictly was last year when Joe had a one night stand with Craig and then went on to win it.

Did he?? I thought Craig just flirted with him during the shows - was there any evidence that they actually had a ONS?

Didiusfalco · 09/10/2018 12:00

Loving the autocarrot Grin

I doubt it will hurt his career. Look at Louis CK who admitted to sexual abuse only 6 months ago and is already starting to get his career on track. I think being a comedian is about as morally forgiving a job as you could get.

64BooLane · 09/10/2018 12:00

Joe had a one night stand with Craig and then went on to win it.

Eh?

BrownPaperTeddy · 09/10/2018 12:00

If it was strictly (pun intended) a dance competition then the likes of Ann Widdecombe et al would have been voted out in the first week.

Rhiannon13 · 09/10/2018 12:02

Are we sure he really had a girlfriend to start with? These 'affair' scandals are always good for increasing viewing figures...

cakecakecheese · 09/10/2018 12:07

I don't know about forcing them to leave but I think it might be an idea for them to withdraw from the show. It's overshadowing the whole contest and I don't think it's fair on the other couples who thought they were signing up to a dance competition, not Love Island.

CoughLaughFart · 09/10/2018 12:12

Not even the thought of winning Strictly would make me want to sleep with Craig Revel-Horwood.

DarlingNikita · 09/10/2018 12:13

Yes, they should quit, as long as all the other Strictly people who've cheated/paired up over the years are retrospectively stripped of their win and have public opprobrium heaped on them. So Brendan and Natasha Kaplinsky, Flavia and Matt d'Angelo, Kristina and Ben Cohen, Rachel Riley and Pasha and (if rumour is to be believed) Matt Baker and Aliona...

That's just off the top of my head.

ainsisoisje · 09/10/2018 12:17

if the BBC don’t step in if feels a bit like they are condoning it? It is the state funded broadcaster after all. Prudish I know, surprised myself there would normally not be arsed.

Essexgirlupnorth · 09/10/2018 12:18

No it's happens previous with other contestants and they haven't been kicked off the show. They may well go because no one votes for them. It is supposed to be a dance competition but a lot goes on popularity

CoughLaughFart · 09/10/2018 12:35

Honestly? I think that’s ridiculous. The BBC exists to provide programming, not moral judgements.

Gersemi · 09/10/2018 12:39

I suspect they'll be leaving this week anyway. Who will vote for them?

It doesn't work that way. Even if they get no votes at all, if they're better than the other two in the dance-off they will stay.

TwistedStitch · 09/10/2018 12:40

If the BBC decide they need to take a stand against adultery then they are going to be very busy and short staffed.

saoirse31 · 09/10/2018 12:46

He should be made to leave for the ridiculous spelling of his name...

KC225 · 09/10/2018 12:54

It all adds to it doesn't it? I bet the publicity department are rubbing their hands with glee.

SerenDippitty · 09/10/2018 12:57

BertrandRussell, he cheated on his wife with someone from Emmerdale. He was very open about it on one of his recent radio shows.

I cannot stand him. He was on the radio just after his wife had had a baby saying how much he loved her. Then he had an affair.

I wonder whether the Strictly pros are secretly relieved to be paired with a gay person, at least they know there's no chance of sexual tension making things awkward.

wopbamboo · 09/10/2018 12:59

I will be watching with great interest at the (hopefully) excruciating judging following their dance.

Shirley Ballas was on the end of her husband's affair with a contestant in DWTS after all (if the rumours are to be believed).

I dont see how she will manage to keep her distaste from showing. She barely manages now!

Duskqueen · 09/10/2018 13:00

I think they should be, her husband is the choreographer for the show and will have to work with them both everyday for the remainder of the show. Surely if someone married has an affair and they want to try and fix the marriage the one that cheated should stay away from the one they cheated with. Personally I think they should pull out of the show rather than be kicked off though.

Harleypuppy · 09/10/2018 13:03

It's not just the cheating it's the abusive behaviour.
