To leave my lady garden au naturelle

I'm expecting my first baby in the next couple of weeks. I know midwives see mothers to be the all manner of positions and states of grooming but I'm wondering what people did in terms of self maintenance in those final days? I've left my.bush alone for a while and tbh can barely see/reach it to do anything myself but worried if I go into a salon to get it waxed it'll be super sensitive (front and back!) Is this something I need to worry about or should I just go for it in my natural state? Or have I got far more important things to worry about on the day than the state of my foof?!

Leave well alone, first child I tried to hack at it blind and ended up with a wealth of shaving cuts, second child I left it to go wild and no one batted an eye lid

I was never shaved and had loads of stitches. I never have shaved or plucked other than a trim for wearing a swimming costume.
Not my thing.
But if it's your thing I would still leave it for now - you have other bigger matters to deal with.

Thanks for all your messages. The comments about student midwives if AWFUL. As a more (ahem) hirsute woman who has had unkind comments in the past, I realise these experiences are what made me worry about having it all hang out for troupes of clinicians to poke and prod. So my own insecurities rather than wanting to 'look good'. My husband has never said a word to me about how I choose to maintain my body hair. Realising that and your words on this thread have been so supportive and empowering, I'm leaving my fanjo be (whoever used that term - BRILLIANT!) Plus it'll keep the bab warm on the way out! Thank you MumsNet!

Please don't give it a thought. I had my DS 24 years ago and I remember many, many things about the birth but the state of my pubic hair is not one of them Grin

I hope everything goes wonderfully well for you.

Do you remember the thread Bertrand?

I'd like to think it was a lie as well, as I agree very much that some people become ridiculously defensive about this.

Bush, no hush, when you're confronted with them daily, I'm sure the novelty would soon wear off, no matter how much of a halfwit you are to find it 'funny' in the first place.

All the very best, NotLongNow!
