What an odd thread! The chef from the 3 birds was very charismatic, not just looks but very funny - her restaurant website crashed while she was on! The rum punch also looked amazing.

Gemini - I think your knee jerk reaction to the suggestion that black women are seen as less attractive is because you think that this statement is somehow racist? But its not the same as saying black women are less attractive (as that's fallacious), its saying that there is a bias against black women for unfathomable reasons (social / cultural prejudices perhaps?)

But in fact there is some truth in it: article by a black female journalist expounding on this problem

This doesn't mean that black women are less attractive - they most certainly are not, just that for some fucked up reason some men (predominantly) regard them as so. I have no clue why.

I don't want to align myself with fruit because I haven't seen her deleted comment and she may have said something I profoundly disagree with it. Just thought that it is an interesting (and a bit disturbing) issue

Back to the thread, I think April Jackson is easy on the eye - but I couldn't possibly comment upon whether she is beautiful without meeting her and finding out what her personality is like.

Think it was channel that did a show is dating racist? Something along those lines, black women really have a hard time. Look at Samira on love island, absolutely stunning yet nobody on there was interested. I'm mixed and had guys refer to me as caramel (yack) declare they've never dated a black girl. Declare they only date blacks girls (fetish) ask me if I can twerk/run fast.

There is definitely a bias towards white women as being more beautiful - it's racist that it is truth but not racist to point it out surely?

Don't know who the woman is but yes she is very attractive.

I'd just like to voice that the notion that black women are often considered less attractive than their white / asian / mixed counterparts is patently true.

No-one is saying that black women are actually uglier. But by virtue of social, cultural bias/conditioning and so forth black women are often rated less attractive whilst equally being hyper-sexualised.

FWIW I'm mixed race.

In fact the issue of black women and beauty is deeply rooted in an almost immutable way among various black communities. So for example, the lighter your skin, the straighter your hair - the more beautiful you are. If you're black and also happen to have blue/green eyes then it's basically like having won the genetic lottery.

@Akanamali I was responding to another posters comment on the subject of black women's rated attractiveness in wider society. You know how sometimes threads spawn various discussions from the main subject but are still within the confines of the wider discussion? A bit like what happens on forums where people discuss/chat/debate.
