..... to think that people who go around resurrecting zombie threads need a hobby

Honestly. There was one just now about someone pulling out of a house sale and it was resurrected with a nothing comment saying ‘thanks for the information’ or some shit.

Please stop it and will MNHQ please put some kind of banner in the op or something. I’ve asked countless times but they never bother.

I think that people who start threads to discuss other people's behaviour on message boards probably need a hobby.

As for the people who comment on those threads, well, they're probably a lost cause...

rainbowunicorn · 06/10/2018 15:23

Why does it matter so much? Surely there is every chance that the information helped the person who commented and could help others. The reason that these threads come up is usually due to a google search so I doubt that anyone is doing it because they are bored,

Rosehip10 · 06/10/2018 15:24

Is the hobby posting pointless threads like this?

SausageOnAFork · 06/10/2018 16:03

Ah I see that everyone here has had a sense of humour bypass.

👍

LolaPickle · 06/10/2018 16:16

WHAT? Maybe it was a topic they were interested in

so what OP - have a word with yourself

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/10/2018 16:52

I've done it a few times, searched for something of Google and ended up reading a thread, commented and then realised it was years old Blush

TooTrueToBeGood · 06/10/2018 16:54

Bookmarking so i can come back and resurrect this thread in a year or so.

Padparadscha · 06/10/2018 16:56

I agree, op. There’s plenty of warning about it being a zombie thread and to be honest many of them are resuscitated by spammers. It’s a shame threads don’t automatically lock after 6 months or similar.

RomanyRoots · 06/10/2018 16:58

Maybe the topic was relevant to them even if old. I could imagine this to be the case when talking about selling property. It's hardly a unique problem.

Mercurial123 · 06/10/2018 17:00

I hate it as well someone responding to a post that is five years old. According to knittingdad I need a hobby......

AnnieAnoniMouse · 06/10/2018 17:07

Totally agree with you sausage, I could cheerfully use your fork on them!

I read that thread earlier, waste of bloody time. We definitely need the ZOMBIE warning reinstated at the TOP of threads.

Livedandlearned2 · 06/10/2018 17:10

Why does it bother you op?

AnnieAnoniMouse · 06/10/2018 17:11

Padparadscha. I’m glad they don’t lock, we have had some fabulous updates over the years.

The ZOMBIE warning at the top worked well, until a few snowflakes complained it upset them as they didn’t feel welcome to post.🙄

EachandEveryone · 06/10/2018 17:14

Whats your problem? Today i search for a thread about audible books recommendations i started a year ago and, if id found it, i wouldve totally resurrected it. I dont see the issue.

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 06/10/2018 17:14

There is no warning the thread is old, just the teeny tiny date next to a name. The zombie thread warning was great and worked so of course was removed. And so many times people are told yawn, this is the third thread about this, do a search, your question was answered on multiple threads,is there a need for a new thread we had one on this last year. Damn if do or don't.

Padparadscha · 06/10/2018 17:15

Padparadscha. I’m glad they don’t lock, we have had some fabulous updates over the years.

I’m not suggesting they disappear, just lock. Any update can be done in a new thread and link in the old one.

The ZOMBIE warning at the top worked well, until a few snowflakes complained it upset them as they didn’t feel welcome to post.🙄

Whilst I agree it was silly to get rid of the proper warning, I’m really getting fed up of anyone that people don’t agree with on here being referred to as ‘snowflakes’. It’s just not necessary.

GerdaLovesLili · 06/10/2018 17:17

Wouldn't it be nice if the date/time stamp could be made to turn red on posts over, say, six months old? Then there would be a snowflake-friendly cue that it was a zombie elderly thread.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 06/10/2018 17:17

I've done it by accident where I've clocked "watching" on the app instead "I'm on" and they're from ages ago.

MagentaRocks · 06/10/2018 17:18

A few weeks ago there were threads in trending at the top that hadn’t been commented on for months or years. So if someone clicked on a thread in trending then they wouldn’t necessarily notice that it was an old thread as it was in trending.

MagentaRocks · 06/10/2018 17:19

Gerda is asked for the same, say yellow if six months old and red if more than six months old but MNHQ didn’t do anything, lots of people agreed it would be a good thing.

SadieAB9 · 06/10/2018 17:51

I think all of us could probably do with getting a hobby 😂

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/10/2018 18:16

I'm with you OP. Yes advance search something and read it but don't post shitty nonsense that had no relevance whatsoever now. FS.

WomblesAreCommon · 06/10/2018 18:30

Anyone else tempted to bookmark this and then resurrect it in six months?

PastaRedWine · 06/10/2018 18:32

@WomblesAreCommon absolutely 😆
