What size are you? Just 2-3 lbs away and hoping to reward myself with a lovely new coat on 1. November Smile I used to be nearly 23 stone Blush

fluffiphlox · 06/10/2018 12:46

I’m quite surprised at some of the sizes quoted on here. I’m 5’8” and just over 14 stone and I’m a 16 top and a good 18 bottom.

Xenia · 06/10/2018 12:50

Well done. The NHS says a healthy weight for 5 foot 7 is about 8 stone 5 to 11 stone 6. 10 stone would put in about the middle of that so might be what to aim for - lose 5 and a half stone perhaps if you can. Keep up the good work.

MamaBearThius · 06/10/2018 12:55

Definitely correct scales as that's what I am at the doctors also. I started a calorie controlled diet last week and casually told people my starting weight and everyone I've told has seemed surprised too. Like I said in another post, at a tiny size 4 struggling with bulimia I still weighed in at 8stone...I'm just a heavy person

Ollivander84 · 06/10/2018 12:56

It all depends where you carry your weight, I'm about 15st 9 in this pic, I'm all boobs (34JJ)

MovingThisYearHopefully · 06/10/2018 13:02

Probably around 18-20. I'm 5ft 8in & weigh about 13st 7lb. Im a 14 on top & 16 on the bottom. I'd like to lose a couple of stone & get back to a size 14. Crazy how sizes vary so much between stores.

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 06/10/2018 13:09

Well done OP, you deserve that reward!

I'm 5.7 and last week was 15st8 (this week 15st 3 😊😊😊) and I'm a comfortable 14 although i can squeeze into some 12s.

This baffles me. I'm 5'7, I'm a 14 on a good day, 16 otherwise. I weigh a lot less than you but I have a lot of flab round my tummy (an overhang!!) and my BMI is around 25 (ie 'overweight'). I'm 11.5 stone, and really do need to lose that flab!

How different we all are.

MamaBearThius · 06/10/2018 13:12

I wear a 14 as I like my clothes a little loose, I can squeeze into 12s but I'm not comfortable so I wouldn't say I was a size 12! More of a 13 if there was such a thing!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 06/10/2018 13:13

Well done 💐

There’s WAY too much variation in sizes of people of the same height & weight to even get an idea of what size you’ll need and that’s before you even start considering the differences in brand sizes.

You’ll just have to take your svelt new body shopping!...and personally, I wouldn’t spend too much, as it sounds like you’ll need another new one before too long!

DwayneDibbly · 06/10/2018 13:13

14 stone 11 and 5' 8". I wear a 16 jeans and a 14 top, entirely dependent upon which shop I'm in. My boobs are a 38F. Well done on your weight loss, OP! I was 17 stone before I had my DC and went up to 19 stone 3 at peak pregnancy, so I know something of what it feels like.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 06/10/2018 13:14

I'm 5'6" and about 15st 8lbs, I'm an 18 on top and 18-20 on bottom. I've been on a gradual creep up from 14st 2 since I had my second child two years ago.

Purplejay · 06/10/2018 13:21

I am 15st 8 and 5’8. I am mostly an 18. Maybe a 20 in some coats.

Well done on your weightloss!

1stoneEverymonth · 06/10/2018 13:23

@Ollivander84 wow you look great! How tall are you?

OP posts:
LakieLady · 06/10/2018 13:28

I'm 5'6" and 15st. I'm 16 or 18 for skirts and trousers, 20 or 22 for tops (broad shoulders, 38FF bra). My Sea Salt raincoat is a 20, and fits fine.

Amazing weight loss OP, well done.

InterstellarSleepingElla · 06/10/2018 13:28

Well done on your weight loss!

I'm a tiny bit shorter (5'6") and a tiny bit little lighter (15st 6) and I'm a size 18 - it is a little tight/snug in the middle but fits legs and little bit baggy on the boobs!

Aromatica · 06/10/2018 13:35

*just shows how crap sizing is. I'm 5ft 7. 9stone. And a size 12.

Someone my height can have 6 stone on me and still be the same size all down to having a nicer shape*

Its not so much a nicer shape. Narrow isn't automatically nicer. Enjoy your skeleton, its doing a great job for you.
Others might just be denser.

I used to be 5"6" plus and at times had ribs, collar bones and hip bones sticking out but was never ever getting below size 10 on top 12 for skirts 16 trousers.(was about 10 half stone and very active, huge muscly/fat thighs n butt,) Believe me I tried!!!
I've been up to 19+ stone due to meds and illness and health workers were always checking their scales, wondering where the lead weights were hidden. Friends at 14/15 stone were much bigger than me.

Weight tells you very little about size shape and health of a body. It just tells you how heavy it is.
Women are allowed skeletons and organs. There is only so narrow most humans can be. Models and their tiny ribcages and mini kneecaps are very rare exception.

Ollivander84 · 06/10/2018 13:38

I'm 5ft 10

WanderinWomb · 06/10/2018 13:42

This site is great to really see the variation in size and shape for people of the same weight.

www.mybodygallery.com

AllTheChocolateMice · 06/10/2018 13:43

I started at that weight and am 5.7, I was a size 18-20. I’m now 13.8 and a 16

Well done op!

tor8181 · 06/10/2018 15:37

im 5ft 9 and 16llbs 10 need 20-22 bottoms but im a 34/35 leg so struggle to get decent trousers
need 24/26 tops BUT im a 42 H/J so at the waist they are always to wide

flirtygirl · 06/10/2018 17:05

This is why I disagree with bmi. The women on the thread are so many different shapes and sizes yet same height and weight (for many of us.)

Bmi tells us nothing and I refuse to let the Drs apply it to me, as at a size 12 and around 12.5 stone I'm still considered overweight even when I've been eating healthily and go gym 5 times a week.

Disclaimer: not at this weight currently but have been and was still told I was overweight.

Floralnomad · 06/10/2018 17:14

I am 5’8” and was 15 st 8lb at the start of last year and was a size 18/20 . I’m now 10st 10lb and a size 12 in most shops . Well done OP .

HollySwift · 06/10/2018 17:20

I’m shorter and a few lb heavier, but I wear a 16/18 both top & bottom - dependent on style/shop. Some of my tops are still 14s tbh as they fit!

Nearly 1.5st of my weight is pure boobs though. the rest is arse

GreenMeerkat · 06/10/2018 17:21

Well done on your weight loss!!

Amazing how a few inches can make such a difference. Wish I was taller.

I'm 5ft 1 and currently pregnant and fat but when not pregnant I'm around 9 - 9.5 stone and a comfortable size 12 (top end of ideal weight). I have to work REALLY hard to maintain that weight. Think 1200 calories a day, gym 3 times a week and a weekly 5k run.

Wish I was a few inches taller!

LonelyOversharer · 06/10/2018 17:25

op you are doing so well! If it's making you happy, keep going, and treat yourself to a super snuggly coat - whatever size you find is best Star

Sorry to derail, but like mamabear my dd2 is made from concrete. As a baby the midwife would pick her up (in newborn size clothes) and go "oof"! At 12 she is 6" shorter than me, and the same weight (about 10st). To look at her you'd say chubby (or current pc version of this), but definatley not clinically obese. She's just one of life's "solid" people, 36" round the bones of her ribcage. She eats the same diet (without any doubt) as the rest of us.

Bmi charts are not our friends.

GreenMeerkat · 06/10/2018 17:25

@flirtygirl agree with BMI. If you're at the gym 3 times a week you're likely to have quite high muscle density which inevitably increases weight and thus BMI!

Pre pregnancy I started a weight training regime, I faked around half a stone in weight but lost 3 inches of fat off my hips and 1.5 off my waist. The gain was all muscle, but my BMI took me from ideal weight into the overweight category. Absolute rubbish!
