I've gone out armed with posters and a pritt stick, glued the "Private Property, do not park here" posters to their drivers side windscreen & left them to it - I'm not causing criminal damage, am I?

Probably.... but they deserve it.

Make sure no cctv and carry on! Grin

MissusGeneHunt · 05/10/2018 13:12

I'm not a lawyer (or an armchair lawyer) but I feel better now for your vicarious act, as my bloody NDN have blocked me in again and won't answer their door.... So, thank you!

Aprilislonggone · 05/10/2018 13:13

I used heavy duty sellotape to put notes on cars in our parking permit zone.
Twats.

caroloro · 05/10/2018 13:14

YANBU to leave the notice. But yes you are causing criminal damage. Anything that requires effort to remove is criminal damage. It's also potentially unsafe if the pritt stick leaves residue which maybe catches the sun and obscures someone's visibility, potentially resulting in an accident?

Totally feel your pain, though.

HoleyCoMoley · 05/10/2018 13:16

In what way is it private property, is it your home, are there signs up saying no parking, private property. I wouldnt have done this, you could have just taken note of the registration numbers and given that to whoever is responsible for enforcing this and let them deal with it. I would go and remove the signs and hopefully the glue has not damaged the window.

NotANotMan · 05/10/2018 13:17

There probably isn't anyone responsible for enforcing parking.

Good for you OP! There's too many selfish arseholes around these days. Serves them right!

LBOCS2 · 05/10/2018 13:19

Lipstick is extremely inconvenient to remove using the sort of things people carry in their cars too. And windscreen wipers just smear it across the windscreen and make it worse. Just saying...

SilverySurfer · 05/10/2018 13:20

It depends if the Pritt glue is removable or not.. If not then YABU and you will have caused criminal damage.

areyoubeingserviced · 05/10/2018 13:20

Be careful
My bil did something similar. He stuck a note on the car of someone who had parked outside his garage.
When the individual returned, he knocked at my bil’s door and punched him.
He said that the sellotape had ruined his car

AviatorShades · 05/10/2018 13:22

Nah, OP. an annoyance to them, yes, if they have to use a solvent and a scraper, but that's how it's supposed to work Grin

The Health Authority I used to work for, in a specialist unit with its own carpark, issued us with 'No Parking" stickers (when the whole place was signed for customer and staff only use) to affix to windscreens in just the right position to make driving inconvenient.
And they must have been coated with some sort of superglue, too..bugger to removeShock

eightoclock · 05/10/2018 13:22

Seems fine to me. Pritt stick is not going to damage a car window! Although a note under windscreen may work as well

Fluffyears · 05/10/2018 13:23

How do you know they shouldn’t be there? What if neighbour has a new car or a lease car. Visitors of neighbours may guy have the right to park there. Although is someon parked in my numbered spot all bets were off! X

SistersOfPercy · 05/10/2018 13:24

YABU

Spray Mount works MUCH better.

EssentialHummus · 05/10/2018 13:26

You can buy super difficult to remove “Parking violation” stickers online. But no, yanbu. I’d have parked them in and gone for a long walk.

GruciusMalfoy · 05/10/2018 13:30

I understand your frustration. Prittstik is the shittest of glues, so it'll probably just be a bit inconvenient for them, rather than actually causing damage.

hungryhippo90 · 05/10/2018 13:32

Report them so they get a ticket. I came home to this cheeky fucker parked in my bay and the visitors one beside. No permit..... the cheeky fuckers got a parking fine on the way now. I was just upset I couldn’t block him in. So I parked in a way he hopefully knew I was a bit pissed off.

Worked the late shift came out to go home and some numpty parked right in front of the gate (and sign which says - NO Parking, Gate in Constant Use).
I had to go back into the factory open the rear gates, take some shipping pallets, stack them next to the car, go back in and get the fork truck, pick up the car, rest it on frame on pallets (so wheels didn't touch anything) write a note saying no parking constant use means NO PARKING CONSTANT USE! put it under the windscreen wiper, lock up the rear gates, unlock the gate and finally got to drive home! Grin Would LOVE to have seen the expression on their face when they got back to their car but as it was after 23:00 didn't feel like waiting around! Wink

Legend!

StealthPolarBear · 05/10/2018 13:36

What happened how did they get it down?

THEsonofaBITCH · 05/10/2018 13:38

What happened how did they get it down?
Was told the evidence seemed to show they broke up the pallets to get the wheels on the ground and drove off (apparently the wooden pallets were in pieces). Bet it took a while though! Grin I do love a good parking revenge!!!!!!!

NinjaPig · 05/10/2018 13:40

It's a Community Centre & an NHS car park - I called them on it as they sped into the car park & walked off site - they just laughed, which put my back up, cocky little shits!

They came back raging, telling me it was criminal damage & I'd caused 1000's of damage (to which I laughed at) and expected me to apologise.

I didn't!!!! (go me!)

I had antiseptic wipes, pointed out that it was Pritt Stick which wasn't able to damage the windscreen & gave them a wipe to get rid of it, then pointed out they were parked in front of a great big sign reminding them it was private. They calmed down & apologised, so I don't think they'll do it again!

Chalk one up to the stroppy bitch

NinjaPig - Congrats. I don't think I would do well with confrontation so I think your situation tops mine by a mile!

I can vouch for this. I once parked my car totally legally on a road with no restrictions, no permits, no road markings etc., I wasn't parked near or opposite another car or a driveway (the road was residential but had long stretches with no driveways). I came back and some arsehole had scrawled "don't park here" across my windscreen with red lipstick. Was an absolute nightmare to get off! As far as they're concerned it worked; even though I was completely allowed to park there, I never did again.

GabsAlot · 05/10/2018 13:47

arsehole

i dont thin pritt stick is permanednt its pretty soft on stuff
