To expect DH to Woman Up and not be ill on my birthday weekend?

Warning: This is not lighthearted, I am very serious!

So, it's my birthday this Sunday, my sister and BIL are arriving tomorrow. DH has been off colour all week and tonight has gone downhill. He's been lying in bed since 7pm moaning about a tummy ache, even stealing DDs rubbish bin for vomit-catching purposes (although currently unused)

AIBU to expect DH to reserve feeling ill for one of the other 51 weekends of the year and Woman-Up for this weekend?

Glad he's feeling better op.

My Dad was suspiciously 'ill' over Christmas when we went to stay with him last year - I tended to him and was sympathetic, cooked etc, but I must admit I was thinking 'You had to be ill NOW' all the way through! He perked up in the second week....

Blackoutblinds · 05/10/2018 07:25

It’s only Friday morning. He might be fine by tea time.

Blackoutblinds · 05/10/2018 07:27

And why say I’m not being lighthearted I’m very serious when you actually were being lighthearted?

Aprilislonggone · 05/10/2018 07:36

My exh used to create some sort of sickness /drama when the date of anyone's but his birthday came around.
Sad little man child. ....
Couldn't stand the attention being on anyone but him. Not an attractive quality.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 06/10/2018 01:47

You've just made yourself sound horrible OP Confused

RedLife · 06/10/2018 01:50

Get DH a bucket and do this. He can go out then and still puke if he needs to?

Monday55 · 06/10/2018 02:29

Tell him you've postponed the celebrations until next weekend as you don't want him to miss out...He'll have to decide whether he gets ill for 2 weeks or just get this weekend done and over

minionsrule · 06/10/2018 06:59

OP if its any consolation its also my birthday on Sunday and it is a significant birthday (50... sob). My lovely DS has given me his horrible cold (hope he has got me a proper present Grin) so I feel like crap and waking every day at 5am. To make it worse, on sunday my footy team plays dh/ds's footy team and i'm pretty sure mine are gonna lose Sad (we are a big football family).
My only consolation is that we booked to go away for b'day weekend but had to plan it for next weekend so hopefully i won't feel so shite!
Happy b'day to all celebrating this weekend Cake

OP, you have no idea what a sense of humour actually is.
