To wash my grapes and think it’s weird when people don’t??

Just that. I wash grapes quite thoroughly before I eat them. I take them off the stalks and rub a handful in my hands under the tap to clean them before I eat them.

I find just rinsing them under the tap to be insufficient.

And I know some people would just eat them without washing them at all, which I find odd and a bit gross.

I am pregnant now so extra careful but I have always tried to wash certain fruits and veg thoroughly anyway

Can’t help feeling some people need to find more important things to worry about, washing grapes? Fuck me

I don't wash fruit though might polish and apple on my jumper before eating.
I rinse lettuce and other leaves only if they're muddy and bought spinach leaves after eating a slightly gritty veg.lasagne I once cooked.I scrubbed skins carrots, potatoes etc if I'm not going to peel them(rarely do peel).I think my immune system if better for it.

Seventh Any prepared poultry is a danger for having been arse wiped. I feel that chicken and stuffing sandwiches are probably the most commonly used.

As for washing toilets... the kind of bizarre bleach-heavy every-day oddness that MN appears to approve of is in the same category as far as I am concerned.

And I own more than one toilet brush ahahahahaaha

Itchytights · 05/10/2018 02:37

Always wash all fruit and veg.

how would a rinse in cold water kill ecoli?

It doesn't kill, but it washes the E. Coil away - dilutes their numbers.

Slug juice, fox poo, bird poo, people have handled it, there’s often soil still on potatoes, factory chemicals, why would you eat that?

It says to wash them on the packet.

Never washed a grape.
I have an immune system.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 05/10/2018 07:22

The immune system comments Grin I wash food and have not had antibiotics since 1993. The last time I was sick was during labour, the time before that was 2001. Although how eating poo protects you from viruses I don’t know Grin

People that don't wash produce, is your stuff all from the supermarket in packs & bags? (I buy as much as I can from the greengrocers/farm shops so a lot is covered in mud or might have caterpillars on).

Would you really not wash a muddy potato?

counterpoint · 05/10/2018 10:12

Bird poo and avian flu viruses ...

LinoleumBlownapart · 05/10/2018 12:42

My immune system is great too but I don't think that matters to parasites.

Having just updated on this thread, I am really, really, seriously half roaring with laughter at the chickens being used for loo roll, and half a little bit vommy... is this for REAL???!!!! Thigh are you on a massive wind up??!!

And we're worried about fecking grapes?!

lilyheather1 · 05/10/2018 13:40

I only really pay this much attention to how I wash my grapes if I've got time after cutting my lawn with scissors and a ruler, plucking the hairs out of my legs one by one and cutting my sandwiches to Pythagorean theorem.
