Why did Theresa May come in moving to Dancing Queen?

Was it supposed to be self-deprecating humour after that video of her dancing with the schoolkids? Or why?

Glad to know she's feeling like hearted.

Well of course she is. The words Jack and Alright come to mind.

Tantrumschmantrum · 03/10/2018 22:21

It was absolutely shocking and cringeworthy and I wonder who on earth is advising her? I'd sack them tbh.

IdahoCrow · 03/10/2018 22:21

Boris bribed the sound crew to let the music go on too long.

She has awfully long arms.

SomeKnobend · 03/10/2018 22:26

I thought it was funny.

tccat · 03/10/2018 22:27

I thought she was taking the piss out of Ruth Davidson and her walk on

TigerDroveAgain · 03/10/2018 22:30

Totally cringeworthy. She was like a “cool” teacher being “down with the kids”. Brexit is no fucking laughing matter.

The Maybot needs to take a leaf out of Frau Merkel's book. There's a lady that can have bit of a singalong whilst enjoying a stein or two of weissbier and not look like a complete tool. We're already the laughing stock of Europe - the Tory conference has in no way changed that opinion.

AbsentmindedWoman · 03/10/2018 22:49

"I've never seen anything like it - I thought she'd lost her mind. You'd think she had nothing to worry about."

I admit I felt similar. Honestly I thought I had missed something in why she was doing it.

It seems in poor taste to me. Foodbank usage through the roof and people wondering if they should stockpile meds by next March, and the supposed PM out like a performing monkey for a bit of light relief.

I can see why some thought it was funny, and I think it would've been funny in a parallel universe where the collective mood of the public is different.

Context is everything.

I'm all for taking the piss out of oneself but it seemed extremely ill-judged when Brexit is turning out to be an utter clusterfuck of a negotiation and she's struggling to be taken seriously. Strikes me as someone who realises they're so screwed they've got nothing to lose.

sma1978 · 03/10/2018 22:59

Because you can't not dance to dancing queen. Grin

Missingstreetlife · 03/10/2018 23:25

Can't work out if she doesn't know what deep shit she's in or is so laid back nothing worries her
Strange indeed

MsMaestro · 03/10/2018 23:33

I hope I never see it

TinyLittleTextMessage · 03/10/2018 23:35

It was a joke. Made me laugh!

Rebecca36 · 03/10/2018 23:42

It was only a few seconds, you didn't miss much.
Maybe she wants to be the next Ed Balls.

sue51 · 03/10/2018 23:43

Cringeworthy.

moredoll · 03/10/2018 23:45

I think it was quite clever, in ensures that all of the headlines will be about her dancing and not about the content of her speech.

^this.

It's so depressing. Not quite the intended effect.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 03/10/2018 23:46

She did a brilliant thing there! She opened her speech by showing that she has a sense of humour!

TeddyIsaHe · 03/10/2018 23:51

Yeah! Woo! So funny! Maybe she should spend more time working out how the fuck she’s going to prevent Brexit fucking the country up for years to come instead of trying to be hilarious. Pathetic.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 04/10/2018 00:11

Teddy I think you’ll find that her whole job is working out how to prevent ‘Brexit fucking the country up for years to come’
Anyway, she hardly danced ffs! It was a tongue in cheek nod, and I think it was brilliant.
Her speech was pretty brilliant too. She has been landed with the task of clearing up the shite

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/10/2018 00:14

She hasn’t “been landed” with the job. She chose to do it.
