To think a mini moon at Xmas is depressing?

Posting for traffic. DP and my income is looking uncertain until the new year when he starts a new job. We are getting married at Xmas and our although we'd love to go off on honeymoon straight away we can't afford it, so we are planning to go in the Spring when things are more secure.
Any ideas for a mini moons / alternative that won't feel like a let down over Christmas week? It's our 1st Christmas celebrating as a couple without families - we had already booked time off work ready to go away, and our DC will be at MIL for a week! We'd like to go somewhere but within a budget, and as it's Christmas where we spend the actual day is a consideration.

I think your OP was a bit misleading and that's why this thread went in the direction it did.

However, now we've cleared up that your DD is fine and with her dad....

Maybe save the 1500 and stay at home with the doors locked and order v posh m&s Christmas food in and pig out in your Xmas PJs watching films.

Saves any faff! If not, cabin in the lakes with hot tub

@Angel0u apologies only just seen this. We booked direct with the resort (if you can it that!) there's a few cabin, fairly secluded but in the grounds of a big house.

FFS OP has explained the situation, cancel the fucking cheque!

"Not that it’s anyone’s business but I know mumsnet loves to be judgy."

Very unfair, on this occasion. You left out important information and gave the clear impression that you were leaving at least two children (ages not specified) with their grandmother on Christmas day while both of their parents went away on holiday.

Yes to those pointing out that Christmas Markets are not at Christmas. Shedfest, as those of us who live near Bath sometimes call it, is over three full weeks beforehand. If it were me I'd go to a nice secluded hotel rather than a city because by Christmas they'll be full of sale shoppers.

I'd suggest The Scarlett in Cornwall (pricey) or the Headland Hotel on Fistral Beach. Possibly the New Forest as we had a lovely long weekend there in February.
