Just wondering as I've just flicked TV on and it's a kids channel. Advertising toys in the breaks and I can't believe how much of it looks shite.
All these 'Suprise' items which you have to collect look crap too.?.

God I sound miserable. I'm not lol.
When my teen was younger he liked Thomas the tank mainly but the track and trains which was good, oh and lego.
. Now sat here with my 7m old wondering if there will be any decent toys in a few years

Squishies. Fucking hate them.

There was an article recently with concerns about the chemicals used in making them. Not sure how true it is, but as far as my daughter is concerned it's gospel truth and she can't waste her birthday money on them any more.

We are just clearing out the trackmaster - some kids love it - but for me was an expensive waste of money and takes up so much room!!! Put it together (hours of my life never to be seen again) to sell it and even that didn't entice any play!!!

Hatchimal. I bought the dds one each and they were total crap, barely played with.

The little colleggtible hatchimals get used a lot though, as do our lol dolls, twosies and shopkins.

(my kids love our grimms rainbow - but they are both very much into building/balancing stuff so its perfect for them)
anything playmobile - gets looked at once, then off to charity shop
same for pre-defined lego sets - build, then discarded. blocks are good though, but a lot if the junior sets are plain boring to builf

Dd (7) got an American Girl doll last Christmas. She was the doll of the year, Lea Clarke and cost us over £250 incl postage and shipping from America.

Dd won't take her out of the house in case anything happens to her so she's just a fucking doll ornament Shock

Never again...

Magazines with cover-mounted plastic tat. The best part of a fiver, they'll be entertained for an hour, then you'll be tripping over bloody Peppa's penguin playset and cursing them.

Toot Toot cars. Stupid big bulky things that can't be disassembled once you've put them together.

My daughter loves her LOL dolls. It's a shame lots of kids don't seem to play with theirs after?

Anyway, our waste of money toys are fingerlings and lego, done once and then forgotten

I really hate the current trend for toys which you can't see and have to unwrap to discover what you've got. I don't mind spending a quid on something unidentifiable in a ball/egg/box but some of these toys are upwards of £10 Shock and you might be buying a duplicate of something you already have. It's such blatant ripping off of parents...makes me mad.

my daughter had a fijit friend. cost 60 quid and barely did anything. was meant to sing tell jokes and hook up with other fijit friends. would do the wrong thing and my niece got one to link up with my daughters which it didnt. my sister in law blamed me! quite funny looking back x

Magic tracks - both DSes desperate for one. DS2 got one for his birthday from a friend. The bloody car didn't work on the tracks (car too narrow so barely moved)

So I bought a couple of cars on Amazon that were "compatible". They were too wide.

I refused to buy another set of tracks "to see if that one works better".

Fireman Sam garage - DS2 was desperate for it and although the reviews said it was crap and fell apart we bought it. It was worth it for the glee on his face at Christmas. Yes it falls apart, but he loves playing with it.

Oh dear for fingerlings - they've been bought for this Christmas already!

We bought DS a big wooden Fort from early learning it took me and DH ages to put together and was hardly played with it was also really fragile. (DH is really good at flat pack furniture, so shows how complicated it was)

We've had them all: badge maker, slushy majer, snake jelly sweet maker, fucking pottery wheel.
All shit.

Some of the most recent fails include Minecraft Lego, Hatchimals, Shopkins, spirograph, Paw Patrol tower, a dtone. Actually most of what they all got at Xmas.

But my top 3 definitely contains Gooey Louie. Utter utter waste of time and money.

God, is there anything actually worth buying these days? All these crap toys are destined for landfill.

My personal waste of time toys are Playmobil. We have so much and it has all been played with precisely once.

Fucking Shopkins.

Neither use nor ornament. Just choking hazard. Yet my three year old insists on them every time we go across the door.

A really crap shark game , it was a plastic figure of 8 where the speedboat has to escape from the shark. Leaks everywhere and broke within it's third time of use. Didn't get much change from £20.

Same with scayalextric (or however you spell it ) . . . Used twice

A ‘my little pony’ castle that takes ages to put together then is so flimsy it falls to bits in seconds. I hid it because I couldn’t handle the constant reassembling. Makes me nostalgic for my sturdy 1980s pink pony castle! And yes also finglerlings. Thought 18 month old dd loves it.
