My opinion is that you pay for the shopping to be delivered to your door, and therefore leaving her shopping at the bottom of the stairwell was wrong, let alone her being clearly heavily pregnant and with a crying child in her flat (you can hear him crying in the video)

Im surprised to see a lot of the comments saying it 'wasn't his job to take them up the stairs' - surely it is if thats where her front door is??? would love to see the reaction if this person was disabled/elderly, i could imagine it would be different.

AIBU and what do you think?

Bugger, I never thought of going to the Daily Mailgrin.

Or, you know, your husband actually doing the shopping Hmm.

Fluffyears · 01/10/2018 17:44

I hate online shopping. I like to pick the longest best before dates and best looking bits of meat etc. On the few occasions we did it via Sainsbury’s the guy carried it all up 4 floors with no issues.

ChocolateOrIDie · 01/10/2018 18:13

@LeftRightCentre assuming everyone has a partner Hmm

@LeftRightCentre assuming everyone has a partner hmm

Erm, no, Chocolate, hence my quoting the poster Mad directly, who said she has a husband Hmm Nice try at a swipe. Please play again. This woman is an entitled snowflake who filmed someone without his permission and put it all over the internet in order to play the victim and get compensation.

ChocolateOrIDie · 01/10/2018 18:22

@LeftRightCentre oooo someone's touchy.

Again, this woman paid for delivery to her door, all other supermarket companies manage to deliver to their doors. This driver was clearly in the wrong as Asda have apologised for his actions - so how is she an entitled snowflake? She paid for a service she didn't receive ! It's that simple ?

Regardless of whether or not it was in the T&C or whether it was part of his job, Sometimes being a decent human being will do the trick.

Where in the T&C of life does it say I MUST hold the door for elderly people? After all they are old not dead.

Or why must I help the lady with a buggy up a couple of stairs? She has a child, she is not disabled.

Sometimes it's just about not being a dick.

ALongHardWinter · 01/10/2018 18:26

This is why I won't use Asda any more for online shopping. I live on the second floor of a block of flats,there are 32 stairs. I am disabled,not wheelchair bound but use a walking stick. I can manage the stairs,but I definitely cannot carry more than one bag of shopping whilst doing so. A couple of years ago,a delivery driver refused to carry the shopping up the stairs and left it,all 10 bags of it,in the hallway downstairs. Thankfully,my lovely NDN arrived home as I was struggling to carry it one bag at a time up the stairs and helped me. When I phoned Asda to complain,they merely said it was up to the individual delivery driver whether they carried it upstairs,as they weren't insured against injury if they did so! The main reason I have my heavy shopping delivered is because I cannot carry it up the stairs! I've spoken to other people since this incident and most have said that the delivery drivers carry it upstairs,no problem. Seems I was just unlucky. But I won't risk it again. I've since used Morrisons,Sainsburys and Tesco with no problems.

EggysMom · 01/10/2018 18:28

I never have a problem with Tescos, they always bring it right into the house and help unload onto the kitchen worktops. That good reputation is part of the reason I continue to shop online from Tesco and not Asda.

LeftRightCentre · 01/10/2018 18:30

@LeftRightCentre oooo someone's touchy.

Yes, you, getting all bent out of shape because your error was pointed out Hmm. But carry on. You're doing a smashing job. The comments on that Daily Heil link are legend, btw.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:32

Our water delivery guys hauled boxes of water up 4 flights when some git jammed the lift(we did t reuse until they arrived). I told them not to bother but they were lovely.

whyhaveidonethis · 01/10/2018 18:39

She's pregnant not bloody disabled...
And only 4 months so.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:41

Not everyone's the same and she had a squaling toddler upstairs.

Are they suppose to deliver to your door and could she reasonably expect him to carry the groceries up for her? It wouldn't have killed him to though would it?

ridingshotgun · 01/10/2018 18:43

Why is she videoing if? If I was in that much of a struggle I'd not even consider pulling my phone out to record!

Also, 4 months pregnant isn't really "heavily pregnant"

That said, I do think this is poor. I'd expect it to come to my door regardless

EmperorTomatoRetchup · 01/10/2018 18:43

I think you're being totally unfair to this delivery driver. In crappy jobs like this, your time is not your own and you have next to know autonomy, you have time limits for each delivery and woe betide you if you dont hit them you also have no protection if you go off piste and anything goes wrong. Kindness and compassion only goes so far if your back gets sprained in the process and there's no sick pay. How kind and compassionate is that to the drivers own kids? Ditto if he accidentally damage an ornaments or a TV with a bag.

In the course of his delivery runs there may be tens of people equally if not more 'deserving' than this woman. If he carried all their shopping up several flights of stairs, he'd ge working til the middle of the night and customers would be moaning about late deliveries.

MadMum101 · 01/10/2018 18:44

DH didn't need to do the shopping as I ordered it online Left.

I don't understand your point?

user1471426142 · 01/10/2018 18:46

Ocado and Tesco both used to deliver to my second floor flat with no problem and we were healthy adults with no need for them to come up. Where I am now Ocado/Waitrose delivery guys seem to get shocked if I say the door is fine (I’m pregnant) and insist on at least bringing the heavy stuff to the kitchen.

53rdWay · 01/10/2018 18:47

Someone screenshotted Asda’s T&Cs unthread. It says “Our commitment is to deliver your order to your front door.” It doesn’t say “unless your front door is up some steps, in which case tough.”

WTBE · 01/10/2018 19:01

Emperor- I spent ten years in a similar "crappy job" and did things that wasn't technically in my job description. Or at least helped as much as I possibly could. Not every day of course, but i just think personally he could of helped a little bit more, even carrying them up the first set of stairs!

Also in the video she claims she ordered bags, yet he shopping is left on the floor for her to juggle upstairs. It's ridiculous.

SilverySurfer · 01/10/2018 19:36

Crunchymum
This wouldn't happen with Ocado wink

I wouldn't know, my Ocado delivery didn't turn up at all with zero apologies and zero customer service.

Tesco drivers are great, when I came out of hospital, not only did he bring the food into my kitchen, he even put it away for me. That's what I call service.

ChocolateOrIDie · 01/10/2018 21:22

@LeftRightCentre haha bent out of shape? Not really love but if it makes you feel better to believe that a strangers comment can have that affect on me then, go ahead Biscuit

Weird reactions here to someone not doing their job, regardless of whether she was pregnant or not.
Service offered is to the door
It wasn't provided but it was paid for, she was right to be annoyed

Depends how you define front door. I live in a tenement flat and would say the front door is the one that opens from the street onto the main stair.

Thejackal262 · 04/10/2018 16:47

PLEASE DON’T SCROLL PASS AND PLEASE READ TO THE END.

I believe there’s more to the ASDA delivery man who refused to help Amy Natasha Botten, who is pregnant and a mother, carry her shopping upstairs.

Check out the info below.

I was fortunate enough to have Amy Natasha Botten actually comment on my video response about the issue (I’m quite touched as I’m only a small YouTube channel), I took the opportunity to ask Amy a few questions which bugged me about the whole situation, such as;

Why bags of shopping outside her door and then at the top of the first flight of stairs? She didn’t answer.

Amy said the driver did come up and knocked on her door, which made me wonder, surely he brought those bags which can be seen at your front door, is that correct? She didn’t answer.

With all my questions (there’s more in my comment section of my YouTube video) she only stated the information which was already in the 2 min long video, but didn’t talk about anything before, other than the delivery driver was not happy when he knocked on her door.

Apparently, some of her shopping was actual in bags. So I asked if she actually paid for bags as ASDA offers a bag-less offer, to which she replied “of course I paid for them. I’ll happily show you my receipt. What kind of question is that, if that’s the only thing you can come up with then I am leaving this silly conversation”

She then when ahead a deleted all her comments (which made me look a bit silly, as if I was talking to myself)

Now I encourage you to have a look at my comment section to see all my responses, as I haven’t deleted any of mine, by doing this you can see I actually asked educated and relatable questions, so my question is, why did she feel the need to delete her side of this conversation? Surely if you have nothing to hide you would just leave it there for everyone to see….

I strongly believe that, what is seen in the footage is not the whole story and this poor man is going to get all kinds of hate from members of the public, as well as what ever may happen to his job as a result of this woman’s video. I think she was another one of these people who wanted a video of theirs to go viral (bravo it did) and she got her 2 mins of fame….

The actual comment which sparked the conversation between myself and Amy was a comment I copy and pasted in my comment section taken from a Facebook post which read;

“So my video has gotten quite a bit of attention in some groups on Facebook and an individual commented something which made a lot of sense, the comment is as follows;

"A neighbour who saw what happened claims that most of her shopping was in bags ( she had a months worth) and the driver carried it to the first floor landing for her. He refused to take the last few bits up because they were not in bags and it would have taken him too long (he had already been there a while) She then started giving him abuse and ran upstairs ( despite claiming she has SPD) to get her phone and that’s when she started filming. Her son was only screaming because of the commotion she had caused when being abusive to the delivery man. Someone else who works at the branch she orders from has also said she is a nightmare, always ringing up moaning and trying to get her delivery charges refunded. Apparently she is always being vile towards the delivery men and they have told her many times to have someone with her when the delivery arrives because they don’t carry it to the second floor, she refuses to do so."

That was a comment by Simon Johnson.

Now that does make sense because if you look at the original footage there seems to be shopping in bags on the floor while this woman is filming her going back down the stairs.

Is this what really happened?

Guess we wont know as we only have on side of the story....”

Please share this post so others can see that it might not be as simple as the driver did not take her shopping upstairs.
