AIBU to be fed up with OPs who start a thread then leave us hanging?

Some threads go on for pages. People offer helpful advice but although the OP might engage for a while then disappears from the thread. So, did she LTB, did she call out MIL, was the parking problem resolved, ????? etc.etc. It drives me up the wall. Is it just me or AIBU?

There seems to be momentary venting on here. They get us all caring and go back to real life and carry on.

I keep thinking about a deleted (too identifying) thread about a woman's whose ex wasted nowt to do with her after she fell pg them reappeared 5 years later demanding access, turning up outside school etc. You get invested and actually care about the posters. I don't think it's entertainment, i think there's often genuine care for the people involved. It can be frustrating, esp when you keep thinking about it and know there's no way to find out.

@1millionselfiestakenbymykids I keep thinking about her too, and desperately want an update- I think so many of us felt for her in such an awful situation. Also need to hunt out whether there was a happy ending to the woman who fancied the builder!

I don't know about the OPs but I get put off by pages and pages of "shamelessly placemarking" - just watch the effing thread or add something constructive!

Reet I really need to know. Those who are asking/wishing there was a way to just see the OPs posts. Are you just taking the piss because there is a way to do that or are you just not reading the thread where people are saying you can?

in terms of people who are going through something complicated and messy I'm not that surprised if they don't update because they don't owe us an update.

What REALLY annoys me is when people start a thread specifically to ask a question, get lots of answers and NEVER RETURN even just to say thanks - that's happened with the PE threads.

It’s annoying. Probably best not to become too invested. The recent one about the “crushy builder” - or something - was intriguing but the OP did say she was not going to post further on it, to be fair. She was concerned she could be identified easily. Think she should have thought of that earlier but at least she had good manners.
