Sofa delivery at midnight

sunstrokecity · 27/09/2018 23:28

Ordered a new sofa, got confirmation email this morning that sofa would be delivered between 20:00 and 22:00.

Delivery driver called at 22:30 to state the obvious, he was running late.

Has just called again to say he will be here at approximately 00:00.

AIBU to think 00:00 is far to late to be delivering a sofa to a normal home address on a Thursday evening?!?!?

Olinguito · 28/09/2018 00:30

Oh Lord, that's awful!

UnicornSparkles1 · 28/09/2018 00:30

Wow. I pity whoever answers the phone at Furniture 365 in the morning. That's outrageous.

TotHappy · 28/09/2018 00:31

Kill them all.

Honestly, what kind of shit service is that? He just rang and said we're not coming?!

mytoolsmycloak · 28/09/2018 00:32

That is the worst non delivery service I've heard!

sorry OP - have you got something to sit on in the meantime?

To be honest if it was me I'd be demanding a refund and to

OlennasWimple · 28/09/2018 00:33

That's appalling!

One year we had left buying a Christmas tree a bit late and bought one from a guy on the market who said he would deliver it that evening "between 6pm and 7pm". DH was on the brink of calling the police, convinced that we had been ripped off, when the tree guy arrived...at nearly midnight....

mytoolsmycloak · 28/09/2018 00:33

.....and going elsewhere......is what I should have said Hmm

Aquamarine1029 · 28/09/2018 00:37

This really is outrageous, but please don't take it out on the delivery men. Their job is so hard and it's not their fault. In the grand scheme of life this is no big deal. You have a funny story to tell in years to come.

maggiecate · 28/09/2018 00:49

The driver must have maxed out his hours that he can legally drive, massive PITA though.

Figural · 28/09/2018 04:04

The driver must have maxed out his hours that he can legally drive

That's what I was thinking.

I had a parcel delivery by Yodel yesterday and their tracking page showed the driver had 154 deliveries to make. I thought that was horrifying, what does this do to people who have to work that long a day, especially driving? The world's gone crazy.

SubtitlesOn · 28/09/2018 04:49

I would be very angry with the company though not the drivers cos they have very hard job to do M25 can make you stuck for hours

AO are awful in this area for being late with deliveries

ParisNext · 28/09/2018 05:13

Finally a thread I hope gets picked up by the media!!! Shocking. I recently had workmen arrive at our rented house to fit an air con unit...from 2300-0330!! Drills hammers and all!!

daisychain01 · 28/09/2018 05:16

I'm angry for you OP but I'm angry for that poor delivery driver.

I would have cancelled the order and told the company that you won't buy off them until they ensure drivers aren't out delivering at impossible times of the day and night. Ridiculous. Capitalism at its worst. I blame it on the "I want it, and I want it NOW" Amazon culture.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 28/09/2018 05:55

ShockShockShock

I wasn't expecting that, poor you OP.

Don't expect too much joy from the sofa company though. Can't remember the last time a company gave a shiny shite about anything.

UrsulaPandress · 28/09/2018 06:31

Ha ha. I opened this thread wondering which company it would be.

We had the same thing a few years ago. Kept promising to turn up one evening until midnight then mysteriously didn't have our sofa on the lorry.

That was a firm in Oldham. But for context we are local.

Good luck.

AdoreTheBeach · 28/09/2018 06:41

Wow that’s shit OP.

With this and the other shares, I’m scared. We’re getting new sofas - ordered 4 weeks ago today. Told it’s between 8 and 12 weeks. I NEVER heard of demuvdries around midnights, not even late evening. I am worried now.

TuathaDeDanann · 28/09/2018 06:55

For me that wouldn't be as bad as Ikea's new delivery service, they told me the time, I took a day off because it was bang in the middle of the day, so taking a half day not adequate and they delivered it half an hour after the time i'd normally get home.

EmpressJewel · 28/09/2018 08:22

How annoying, Op.

OH is a delivery driver and he once did a shift delivering white goods and didn't finish until 11pm. He said sometimes they had problems finding the address, traffic or even getting the goods into the house and these things take time.

I do think you should complain, but don't forget, that it probably isn't the drivers fault.

Buggerbrexit · 28/09/2018 08:57

Shock that’s so bad!

Omgineedanamechange · 28/09/2018 09:03

OMG, I would go nuclear on their arses, that’s bloody outrageous.

notapizzaeater · 28/09/2018 09:12

It's they left you waiting up for so long before telling you. Hope you get it sorted

tictac86 · 28/09/2018 09:17

At least he is trying to get you your sofa. Let it go lifes to short.

Snowymountainsalways · 28/09/2018 09:25

nonetcurtains · 28/09/2018 09:34
