Visiting my nephew and want to buy him a gift. Anything around £50. He loves football but has tonnes of football memorabilia, obsessed with fortnite, loves maths, super brainy etc.

What is a safe bet for a gift for an 11 year old lad? Haven't seen him in a while as we live so far away so not sure what to get him! Help Confused

Fortnight monopoly and a fortnight hoodie

AlliKaneErikson · 27/09/2018 15:05

Just wanted to add my DS is also 11 and the description could have been of him, he’s so similar. He wouldn’t know what to do with V bucks and has never played Fortnite, so not necessarily a ‘safe’ bet. Fifa 19- now that’s another story!

GoldenBuns · 27/09/2018 15:07

Yes - according to ds12 Fortnite is beginning to go out of fashion! He stopped playing it about 6 months ago.

AlliKaneErikson · 27/09/2018 15:07

*misaed our the apart from Fortnite sentence!!
Also agree with Lego - Star Wars and Technic are big in this house.

CruCru · 27/09/2018 15:10

What about books? Here are some recommendations.

I'm not keen on buying other children Fortnite stuff. All the parents of older children seem to spend a lot of time trying to limit how much time they spend on it. I'd probably class it as the same sort of gift as a load of chocolate or sweets - the kids might be pleased but the parents may say "For God's sake, what did she get him THAT for?"

smallchanceofrain · 27/09/2018 15:33

Not Fortnite stuff unless you know he's into it. Ditto lego - we've got a ton of it that has never been looked at. DS2 would ask for Meccano, anything FIFA related, Amazon vouchers or book / theatre tokens.

ThePrioryGhost · 27/09/2018 15:35

Check out www.wickeduncle.co.uk

They have good stuff and you can browse by age which makes it so much easier!

YeOldeTrout · 27/09/2018 15:46

DS will be 11 in January & wants a fitbit for Xmas.

DDogMum · 27/09/2018 16:00

A second controller for my friends sons Xbox went down a treat. He's 12

jelliebelly · 27/09/2018 16:05

Fifa19 would be a good idea - my sport mad fornite playing brainy 12 year old has it top of his birthday list!

Backstabbath · 27/09/2018 16:17

V bucks for fortnite

Temporaryanonymity · 29/09/2018 08:20

Mine would love v-bucks. All he and his friends do is talk about Fortnite.

As for for poster who says it is going out of fashion...I really hope you are right!

Cachailleacha · 29/09/2018 08:20

My 12 year old boy is reading 'The Simpsons and Their Mathematical Secrets', doesn't cost £50 though!

Brian9600 · 29/09/2018 08:34

Fifa 19 for sure, although you need to know what console he has.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 29/09/2018 08:37

Personally I would give him cash. I know it's not personal but £50 is a lot of money to get wrong on a present! I'm positive he will be over the moon with it.

treacledan71 · 29/09/2018 08:39

my 11 year old wld like a Xbox voucher for fortnite points. What about a cinema voucher as part of a present. I bet he will start going cinema on own now. A few bits perhaps a sports voucher. The post office do them high st vouchers which are good.

Jeanclaudejackety · 29/09/2018 08:42

My nephews would want Northface or Adidas clothing. Maybe a new footie top with his name or fave player. If he has the home strip maybe the away strip? Or JD sports vouchers? My family is very very sport focused though haha

Jeanclaudejackety · 29/09/2018 08:42

Or new champions league ball?

fruitpastille · 29/09/2018 08:43

Guinness book of records and some new headphones?

TokyoSushi · 29/09/2018 08:43

Yes definitely Fifa 19!

MicroManaged · 29/09/2018 08:46

I’d get something Fortnite branded.

On my list for Xmas for my two is Fortnite monopoly, Fortnite hoodies and a wooden Fortnite bedroom name plaque each (Facebook seller).

You could do a little gift basket with a hoodie, mug and £10 of VBucks or similar.

TeddybearBaby · 29/09/2018 08:50

V bucks, a new football. I genuinely think there is probably 20 in the garden but a new one is always a winner to him. He likes Krispy Kreme vouchers for his birthday. I love experience presents so could get him 2 trampolining park vouchers and he could take a friend there. Now he has a bit more independence my son would love that. He would definitely think of you as well. ‘My aunt got us these vouchers’ sort of thing. He’s always asking to go back to the trampolining places too, he loves it.

treacledan71 · 29/09/2018 08:59

Good idea teddybear re trampoline vouchers that could be a present for ds for xmas. It gets so hard as get older!

maddening · 29/09/2018 09:02

2 tickets to a football match?
