To want to try Huel?

Liquid food for those who don't know it.

As far as I can gather they seem to be claiming you could essentially just live off Huel for the rest of your life - can this be true?! Anyone tried it?

I think I’d find it a bit joyless

MrsPlopperson · 26/09/2018 23:25

I like it - I use it a couple of times a week for breakfast and it is very convenient (very quick to make, healthy and it fills me up). I find it best made with coffee and a teaspoon of cocoa.

The kid at the beginning of this got the dog food vibes also, it smells like a fresh pack if bakers treats to me

I didn't quite mean overgrow like rodents but teeth will overerupt

user187656748 · 27/09/2018 07:13

Its ridiculous saying it will damage teeth due to lack of use. Its no different to eating a bowl of soup which nobody would raise an eyebrow at.

Its perfectly nutritionally balanced. I am using it due to health reasons since my diet isn't great (although I'm very slim). Its cheap, its quick and its a vast improvement on what most people would have for a meal at lunchtime.

Its too sweet for me but that's just a personal preference thing.

serbska · 27/09/2018 08:07

@user187656748 you can get the unsweetened one?

RedPanda2 · 27/09/2018 08:36

It's not ridiculous if it is marketed as replacing all meals

user187656748 · 27/09/2018 08:56

It isn't marketed as replacing all meals though.

You could do that and in terms of nutrition your diet would be very good. But its a meal replacement product. The vats majority of people use it in conjunction with normal food.

ErickBroch · 27/09/2018 09:00

My DP has it for lunch and enjoys it, i have tried it before and it's not too bad! He has problems with portion control so this helps him - very filling

AlmaGeddon · 27/09/2018 09:03

When you eat food you chew it in your mouth and it mixes with saliva which starts the digestive process.
So just swallowing liquified food misses this out.
My DSis used to do this and the ingredients came from the fridge so not only was she not chewing it but her poor empty stomach was having a litre of (very healthy) cold stodge hit it first thing in the morning.

ivykaty44 · 29/09/2018 05:52

People eat soup without any digestive issues, don’t see the problem? If I had my jaws wired I’d have to have a liquid diet for a month or so

AlmaGeddon · 29/09/2018 08:12

True, good point but perhaps drinking soup from a spoon makes a difference to the amount of saliva you swallow.

TerfedOff · 29/09/2018 08:34

Porridge does exactly the same thing for a fraction of the price

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/09/2018 10:11

Yes, I looked at the 'whats in huel' picture on the website and thought 'why wouldn't you just eat porridge with some Greek yogurt and berries'?

Onatreebyariver · 29/09/2018 10:13

Yep I use it. Love it. Would be bored having it all the time but I use it for breakfast and sometimes for lunch.

I love the taste (I drink it warm) and my husband uses it too but mixes it with milk. It’s convenient and obviously incredibly healthy. I hate thinking of what to have for lunch so it’s perfect when I have no inspiration.
