I love the theme tune to NCIS. And Friends of course.

OP posts:

The Box of Delights - still makes me feel a bit freaked out!
Miss Marple (80s 'proper' Miss Marple with Joan Hickson) takes me back to Sunday nights as a child Smile

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 23/09/2018 23:19

Another vote for Quantum Leap too! Still slightly obsessed with this show.

PrivateParkin · 23/09/2018 23:23

Yes The Box of Delights! I can't believe I didn't mention this Shock I'm shocked at myself! It's Hely-Hutchinson isn't it? Beautiful music. I have the cd and play it every Christmas. I can't imagine music like that being used as the theme for a kids' programme these days...

butterfly56 · 23/09/2018 23:26

Dr Who especially the early version when I was young used to hide behind the sofa especially when the Daleks were on!!...scared the shit out of me but it was my favourite programme.

I have been a fan of Formula 1 for years and loved the Fleetwood Mac - The Chain theme. Also the new F1 theme by Brian Tyler.

House of Cards(Netflix) theme tune and the whole intro was visually mesmerising for me.

@butterfly56
I came on to say The Chain too.

The Black Beauty theme is called 'Galloping Home'.

Rebecca36 · 24/09/2018 00:24

Lewis, Barrington Pheloung writes the most hauntingly beautiful stuff for that series (& Morse & Endeavour of course)

Graphista · 24/09/2018 00:33

Friends theme tune holds special memories as I watched it a lot when pregnant and dd used to 'dance' about to it. Big Bang theory - used to sing along with dd and we'd clap at "it all started with a Big Bang. bang!!"

Golden girls I remember singing along with my siblings when we used to watch, also cheers, Bread, happy days, fame, why don't you, blue peter (though more whistled to that one) - here's a blast from the past - airwolf! Fabulous theme tune (had such a crush on him, shame what happened). Rentaghost - yes! Surprised nobody's mentioned Fresh Prince yet! "In west Philadelphia born and raised..." (Written before 1914 post)

"If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team." Omg! Flashback to my bro pretending to be Hannibal or face! He was nearer to Murdock with his utter fearlessness (still is!).

I also like "lie to me", "unforgotten" is a good call.

Van der valk - never saw the programme but how many of us learned to play "eye level" on recorder at school? Also true of "the entertainer" - from the sting a pp mentioned.

Mash - the most heartbreaking but worked so well for the show.

Jamie and the magic torch - yep! Also reminds me of quantum leap - fellow quantum leap fans bet you know the intro monologue too! SO annoying this wonderful show isn't available to watch online anywhere, there's a few season 1 episodes on iTunes but that's it!

Wiki'ing writers - the equalizer (loved that show) great theme tune written by stewart copeland 6 degrees of separation - he's Ian copelands brother who Courtney cox once dated.

I like "the who" so of course love the CSI theme tunes.

Mum loves the theme from "wonder years" as it was her era.

But...all that said, my favourite goes back to my weegie roots - Taggart!

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 04:25

Ooh, and I used to watch a programme with my dad on a Saturday morning, called The Greatest American Hero. That had a cracking theme song:

Believe it or not I'm walking on air
I never thought I could feel so freee
Flying away on a wing and s prayer
Who could it beee?
Believe it or not it's just meeeeeee

MawkishTwaddle · 24/09/2018 04:32

Ooh, does anyone remember the theme tune to The Book Tower? That was proper creepy and thrilling.

And Ulysses!

Ulysses, Ulysses,
Searching through all the galaxies...
