I love when there is a terrified/aggressive
cat fighting having an exam or medication and im able to calm it enough to do what we need to do and maybe even get a cuddle. Or when i persuade an animal that is refusing to eat that the warmed up pate on my fingers really doesnt taste so bad.

Not so much the low pay and ridiculous hours

i hate that my catering business has put me off cake!

Most - the travel (frequent overseas to some truly fascinating places)

Least - the travel (frequent 90 minute drive to the office)

M0veOntheG0 · 22/09/2018 17:32

Most - the wages, that allow me to interesting things on my off shift days Least - lazy co workers, office politics

Luglio · 22/09/2018 17:34

Most: working from home
Least: everything else.

God I need to get a new job.

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoooorrr · 22/09/2018 17:50

I love some of the characters I get to meet, some of the elderly people I meet with are utterly bonkers Grin they're wonderful to chat with, and I always make a point of popping my head in to say hello and have a matter of I'm not stuck in my office. I get very attached to them, and their families. It's hard not to get invested in them.

That leads to what I hate about my job. At some point, they die. Then trying to strike a fine balance between supporting their grieving family, trying not to cry myself, and then having to ask them to settle up accounts.

I work in business and finance role for a care home chain Smile it's a lovely job at times.

mangowango · 22/09/2018 17:51

I like my immediate work colleagues. I hate management.

ScribblyGum · 22/09/2018 18:04

Most: Helping someone to achieve their goal of walking again. That's a pretty bloody fantastic perk of the job.

Least: Kneeling on carpets deeply embedded with decades of filth, pet hair and unmentionable detritus, removing my patient's socks and a snow storm of scaly foot skin explodes into the air revealing feet and toenails so unloved and neglected that you could weep.
I don't like that.

MedSchoolRat · 22/09/2018 18:14

Most: Mastering the statistics or algorithms & technical skills (& writing about it)

Least: Colleagues who never answer emails or only answer after many weeks, possibly never read or comment on what they say they'll read or comment on or do what they say they'll do, so delay anything getting decided & done. Basically: all the dithering.

manicinsomniac · 22/09/2018 18:17

Most - school show weeks

Least - difficult parents

(Performing Arts teacher)

I love being self employed and picking which jobs I do or don’t do, setting my own rates instead of doing exactly the same work for minimum wage. I also love getting feedback for my work. It’s always good.

I don’t much like some of the absolute shit pits some people live in that I have to clean. But at least I’m not doing it for minimum wage.

Methe · 22/09/2018 18:18

+I am paid quite well

- It's a steaming pile of shit.

Whatififall · 22/09/2018 18:19

I like gathering information, collating it, distributing information and reporting on it. I like organising data to show results and extracting those results from all the data processed.

I do not like my negative, complaining colleagues who seem incapable of completing their reports in a timely manner.

jarhead123 · 22/09/2018 18:19

I am a carer so I like the flexibility I have in terms on fitting in personal errands but I dislike that it's 24/7 and I get no weekend off

Autumnfairy82 · 22/09/2018 18:19

Most: My colleagues
Least: Rude / arrogant people

flowertoday · 22/09/2018 18:19

Most -
The amazing people I meet - Young people and older people, and everything in between. Always something new to learn and think about.
Lovely colleagues.
Ability to be autonomous and flexible in organising work time.

Worst -

Some people can disappoint. Money can be the root of all evil / not a force for good in families.
Being not so popular much of the time.
Stressful, not easy to switch off from.
Not great money.

LargeGlassOfPepsi · 22/09/2018 18:21

Most - the children and the holidays

Least - the shit SMT who hide in their offices

HerRoyalFattyness · 22/09/2018 18:21

Most:- i get to work with cute little babies
Least:- i am working with babies

Grin

Babies are amazing...they also cry and poo and puke.

foxychox · 22/09/2018 18:22

Most - total flexibility around working hours, being able to help clients navigate topics that they don't understand (European legal framework)
Least- colleagues with poor communication skills, unappreciative clients

MirandaWest · 22/09/2018 18:24

I love the fact I work from home. And that I can actually manage to do it quite well.

Don’t like the fact that people higher up decide that our role should do more and o
more things and that covering anti-social hours keeps happening more.

But overall more good than bad. And pays pretty well

EndeavourVoyage · 22/09/2018 18:25

I LOVE the fact I get to work right next to my DH all day as he is my boss.
I dislike it when he bosses me about though
And I HATE how cold it is in the winter.

But on the whole I love going to work every day.Smile

Allegorical · 22/09/2018 18:27

CharDeeMacDennis · 22/09/2018 18:28

Best: the work itself is mostly quite fun, working from home / in my pyjamas / comfy jeans / whatever! Worst: sometimes tight deadlines / having to plug away outside of my allotted hours.

MattLeBlancVest · 22/09/2018 18:35

Best. The general public
Worst. The general public!

something2say · 22/09/2018 18:41

Best.....working with complete strangers who are happy to tell me all about themselves, their lives, their ups and downs, their families.

Worst.....either people closely affected by immigration laws and upheavals, good people who could do so well but who will most likely have to go home to somewhere dangerous, OR dealing with The Entitled, who wish to sit at the table of life and eat from it, while neither growing the food, nor cooking it, nor washing up afterwards. These two things press my buttons and make me sad inside. I don't,focus on them tho.

I focus on the many many fascinating and wonderful people there are out there, and my job in twisting and turning to 'get' them and then provide some sort of help,
