www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6195853/Credit-Suisse-boss-dresses-woman-slammed-appearing-100-women-list.html

Is this for real? To be clear this is not a trans bashing thread! This man is “gender fluid” so decides almost on a day to day basis which gender (basically shall I wear a dress or men’s suit to work today?) and has been listed in the top 100 WOMEN in finance??
He is NOT a woman, he isn’t even trans, he is a fancy dress enthusiast at best!!!!

So women who have worked hard to become the top of their field will now have to compete with men in women’s only categories too.

This has given me the rage Angry

Can't see Pips tying on a pinny, mucking out the Guinea pigs and sorting out tomorrow's school uniform after a day at work making exhausting manly , I mean womanly , financial decisions.

This with (gender neutral) nobs on

NoSquirrels · 22/09/2018 12:43

Most women cannot turn up to work in hot pink dresses and fishnet tights and not experience consequences of some sort.

And YY to this ^^

Corporate City jobs do not allow women to dress like that.

InstagramPork · 22/09/2018 12:43

@burnaboutbabe I have read and reread the article from the link I posted and cannot see where you have got that quote from?

It was a list of the top 100 women in industry, not a list of women’s advocates as you’ve suggested? There is a male equivalent to the award

OP posts:
NoSquirrels · 22/09/2018 12:44

His role as an individual who embraces male and female aspects is important representation.

What does that even mean, wrenika?

Hmm
ClosdesMouches · 22/09/2018 12:46

burnoutbabe

This is the actual official list. There is a separate list for men see the second link for descriptions of each list.

(And I'll wait for someone to say 'wahh waah, why are there only 50 on the male list'. )

NoSquirrels · 22/09/2018 12:47

I’ve had to click on the bloody DM now to read it. I can’t see the quote either burnout.

ADastardlyThing · 22/09/2018 12:49

Are you sure burnout?

www.out-standing.org/heroes/ clearly states it's a 100 female executives list
www.out-standing.org/heroes/2018-top-100-female-executives/ list with this person on it

And I couldn't see the part you quoted in the article the op linked too?

NoSquirrels · 22/09/2018 12:50

Got it.

It’s an award for Champions of Women in Business.

There is a list of 100 Female Champions and 50 Male Champions.

According to DM article, PB CHOSE to appear in the Female not Male list.

He could have knocked a man down off the Male list. But he CHOSE to knock a woman off.

Not seeing how that’s him “championing women”, tbh.

Miladymilord · 22/09/2018 12:51

I would say that it’s depressing when most Women in finance award attendees are packed with women, showing that men don’t take the issues that seriously

Yes because awards only mean something if men witness it

Ffs

NoSquirrels · 22/09/2018 12:52

men don’t take the issues that seriously

Men aren’t going to take it any more seriously if a bloke in a dress tells them there’s a problem, I think we can all guarantee that.

MipMipMip · 22/09/2018 12:53

From the official site :

In this category, FT and HERoes will celebrate 100 senior female role models who are helping to increase gender diversity in the workplace. Nominees for this category will be successful senior female executives working 1-3 levels from the chief executive.

Please note the use of the word female.

Yes it does say We’re celebrating not just those who have achieved significant success in their own careers, but also those elevating others during their rise through the ranks. but that is an introduction to all three lists, including the separate male one.

TanteRose · 22/09/2018 12:55

Totally insulting and an affront to those women who dropped off the list because this person was on it Angry

MipMipMip · 22/09/2018 12:58

The second annual ranking of female and male executives who have made a substantial difference to women’s careers

The HERoes lists celebrate company leaders who support women in business.

The following individuals were identified as champions of women: all were nominated by peers and colleagues, and the nominations then reviewed by a panel of judges (see end of article).
---
So its not TOP 100 women in finance, its champions of women. Which is a bit different and men and women can be on the list. (not saying he should be or not but men can be on this list)

There are three lists - male (which he should have been on if qualified), female (which he was on but shouldn't have been)
and future female leaders (which he probably would have tried to be on if he hasn't already done so well as a male.)

ShackUp · 22/09/2018 12:59

There is a huge thread about this story on the Feminism board.

If you're outraged by the erasure of women that this story represents, get yourselves over to the feminism board and start acquainting yourselves with the full horror of what is going on under the guise of 'trans rights'.

HildaZelda · 22/09/2018 13:04

YANBU OP. He's not trans. He's a man who decides to pop on a dress occasionally.
If I put on a saddle, that wouldn't make me a horse.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/09/2018 13:24

Agree OP

CaMePlaitPas · 22/09/2018 13:27

I don't care what he wears to work but unfortunately this feels insulting, it's another blow to women in business.

disorganisedXX · 22/09/2018 13:31

Trans does not belong on a women's list either, it is for women. Woman is not a feeling or a wish, you don't get to choose biology you either are or aren't!

Bunce isn't championing women he is representing the male dominated movement to crush the female half of society from childhood up.

Don't make the mistake of thinking this is a one off silliness, come over to the FWR boards and get involved, we need to fight this.

SugarandVinegar · 22/09/2018 13:33

At this rate he'll be Crufts best in show next.

eelbecomingforyou · 22/09/2018 13:36

Completely outrageous. Thinks it's backfired for Credit Suisse though as they’re getting a very hard time on Twitter.

Pips is a man who enjoys wearing dresses. Nasty pink hideous dresses that real women wouldn’t be seen in. He has a very stereotyped idea of women’s clothing. Surprise.

Credit Suisse is being all woke - at least, they think they are - by giving pips this award.

Big mistake. Huge.

londonmummy1966 · 22/09/2018 13:48

The real issue with this is that most of the women on that list are in far more senior positions in their organisations than he is. Therefore if you are a man who occasionally wears a dress you will get put a long way up the list in company with CEOs and COOs etc whereas a real woman with his job title probably wouldn't have made the cut at all. And that's without noting that he got to his position as a man with all the advantages of his male privilege etc - so not only is he not as good as most of the women on the list but he probably didn't have to fight so hard to get there - and would not have been taken seriously for half an hour if they dressed the way he does. Pip Pip hooray for championing the rights of women....

placemats · 22/09/2018 13:51

It's just a daft list...it doesn't matter.

But it does. It shows that the bank is supportive of getting women into top positions. It ticks boxes. It also gives those women, who work just as hard, if not harder, than the men the recognition they so rightly deserve.

Bunce should never have been on that list. It's fucking outrageous.

(And no way would that pink dress and fishnet tights get past those who post on Style and Beauty)

nicenewdusters · 22/09/2018 13:54

If I occasionally wear a kilt can I claim to be Scottish, and expect to be eligible to receive any benefits usually applied to Scottish people ?

Or am I then just an entitled, attention seeking twerp, who believes I should be lauded by all those people whose toes I'm treading on so heavily?

Deathraystare · 22/09/2018 14:00

Well, I shall never appear on said list so I don't give a toss who or what appears on it. They can dress a dormouse up for all I care.
