DS (only child) asked for a free house this evening, with three mates........... over the summer we have willingly headed out............... the weather is vile, it would have cost us £30 to have two drinks, or £65 to £70 for a meal out.

We said on this occassion we are not going out, hang in the front room and we will head up to bed at about 10 ish....

So question.............. pint of decent ale and a large white wine............... how much...????

Please and thank you.

around £7 depending on the pint , NW England

MairzyDoats · 21/09/2018 23:31

That's still £15 a round OP. That's a bit of a shocker!

BackforGood · 21/09/2018 23:35

Depends on what you mean by 'large'.... wine glasses seem to be getting bigger year on year, but I think about £8 here (Midlands). Does vary considerably which pub you go in though.

Doilooklikeatourist · 21/09/2018 23:39

Last time we went out DH drove
Large glass of NZ white and a Coca-Cola was £9-30

Ollivander84 · 21/09/2018 23:40

£8 ish? Lancashire

LellyMcKelly · 21/09/2018 23:42

About £12-£13 at the local. More (often a lot more) in town. Hampshire.

BreconBeBuggered · 21/09/2018 23:42

£9.30 on Tuesday night. Hotel bar, not pub, but pub-ish vibe rather than cocktail lounge. Welsh borders.

nancy75 · 21/09/2018 23:43

I think a large glass of wine is about 7 quid? Giver for a pint? So yes that’s £12 ish for 2 drinks.

ColinsVeryJolly · 21/09/2018 23:44

About £8 in our local, £10-11 in the town centre

adaline · 21/09/2018 23:44

About £8. Cumbria.

ShatnersBassoon · 21/09/2018 23:45

I had an awkward moment in a city centre pub recently where I ordered a pint of cider and had my fiver in hand ready to pay. I had to scrat up another 50p and try to act like I wasn't going into circulatory shock. But £5.50 a pint! We're spoilt with affordable booze in the sticks.

peachgreen · 21/09/2018 23:46

£7. Yaaaaaay Northern Ireland. Back when we were in London, more like £12.

delphguelph · 21/09/2018 23:46

Ah 🍸two each, so £15.

Interesting reading, I'm back in the UK for Christmas 🤶 so will budget accordingly!

YouTheCat · 21/09/2018 23:46

£7.30 - been out this evening to see a Tenacious D tribute and that's how much it was for a large vodka and coke and a large white wine. This was in a city centre.

nancy75 · 21/09/2018 23:47

I can easily see 2 drinks each & a couple of packets of crisps coming to £30

elephantoverthehill · 21/09/2018 23:47

Thread sponge alert No idea as it is so long since I've been out to a pub Grin. You are so lucky you can do this! Probably about £7 in Wetherspoons

Dieu · 21/09/2018 23:48

Around 12 quid. Edinburgh.

HollowTalk · 21/09/2018 23:49

No idea re those drinks but I bought two gin and tonics in Liverpool the other day and it was over £14. I was shocked!

LoveManyTrustfew · 21/09/2018 23:50

We live in the Home Counties, just outside Guildford.

About £11 in Maldon, Essex.

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/09/2018 23:51

I love in the inner city so my local is city centre. A pint of decent stuff and 250 ml NZ Sauvignon Blanc is £8.30. Two each £16.60. Am Shock that your local charges that much OP. Are you in Barnes or Richmond or something?

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 21/09/2018 23:53

£8-9 for the wine, probably about £5 for the beer - Surrey.

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/09/2018 23:53

X post.

Am a bit Blush that me and DP are Al Murray Pub Landlord clichés.

WhatWouldPennyDo · 21/09/2018 23:57

I favour a Picpoul presently but a NZ Sauvignon is £8.85 in my local (village further out of Guildford, OP). A pint must be over £5.

Pricey. Might stick to lime and soda water.

GrandTheftWalrus · 22/09/2018 00:01

£5.65 here for the 2 drinks. So £11.30 for 2 rounds.
