I really feel like handmaking my families Christmas gifts this year. Would you be disappointed to receive a handmade gift? Or are there any handmade gifts that you've received that you absolutely love? Would love to hear your experiences.

I wouldn't want edible things but if some one gave me anything crocheted id be delighted!
I did make Xmas "favours " for the table one year when I had more time😉

Maybe somethings that contributes to the Christmas dinner table if you are spending it together like crackers, Place markers erm ....

The best homemade gifts are those tailored to the recipient, otherwise they can end up feeling less thoughtful than purchased gifts. Especially if everyone in the family gets handed the same thing.

Quilts, dressing gowns, baby blankets, socks from people who know your taste and are genuinely good at sewing, knitting, weaving or crocheting can be nice. Homeware, artworks, jewellery or clothes are best avoided unless someone has expressed an interest in what you make or you know their taste really really well.

I wouldn't use handmade toiletries as I have sensitive skin and they haven't been tested. Lots of 'natural' ingredients like essential oils are irritants.

Good quality food gifts are nice if they match your taste (I don't eat jam and chutney). Things that don't have to be consumed immediately are better as we tend to have a surplus around Xmas or be going away and stuff that only lasts a few days goes to waste. So slow gin yes, gingerbread or cookies no. It can work out pricey though - I have a friend who makes delicious Christmas cakes and truffles but the fruit, nuts, sherry and decent dark chocolate all add up.

Hey everyone. I made the lime and gin marmalade for a practise run and omg it is to die for! I may not give any away. Grin It's set beautifully and is a lovely jewel colour with the rinds suspended throughout the jars. We tried it out on some warm buttery toast. I cannot get enough of it. It was definitely a tricky process but worth doing if anyone fancies giving it a go.

Ps. I'm hoping my second batch will look a lot neater. I could have sliced the rind abit thinner but it's softened well.
