To ask for your IMMEDIATE help as I've accidentally dyed my hands red

So embarrassing.

I have a pair of old red gloves I wear under the fake tan mitt. Tonight I forgot I had thrown my mitt away so decided to apply just wearing the gloves.

Have taken them off to see that my hands are BRIGHT RED.

It won't wash off with soap or washing up liquid.

I need ideas fast please. I'm a normal person with a professional job and this cannot have happened to me Shock

Have you any alcohol hand gel?

Eliza9917 · 20/09/2018 21:32

A denture tablet or lemon.

BanginChoons · 20/09/2018 21:34

Dettol kitchen spray. I use it to get hair dye off my hands.

WhiskyIrnBru · 20/09/2018 21:35

Lemon juice
Takes fake tan stains right off.

FrangipaniBlue · 20/09/2018 21:35

Hair Conditioner takes hair dye off my skin so maybe try that??

Also if you have an exfoliating scrub try using that.

SoftSheen · 20/09/2018 21:36

Baby wipes, if that doesn't work then then neat Vodka or whatever strong alcohol you have.

mumsastudent · 20/09/2018 21:36

crikey if you put that lot on you will be visiting a & e! wear cotton gloves! or use makeup on hands!

treacledan71 · 20/09/2018 21:36

Do you have any head and shoulders or similar. Put that on neat and bit cling film round hand and leave for a bit and when take clingfilm off some shld come off.

CrochetBelle · 20/09/2018 21:39

Dye your hair bright red and own it Grin

OvO · 20/09/2018 21:41

Dancer, that's good to know as I'm frequently dyeing my hands with fabric dye. I never learn. I'm still sporting slightly blue nails after smurfing myself last weekend!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/09/2018 21:43

Bleach. I have used it on my hands before now, with no ill effects. Rub it in, rinse it off, wash well, and moisturise.

Threadastaire · 20/09/2018 21:49

Pre warning this is NOT good for your skin... I've had many mishaps with hairdye over the years, and when nothing else works, nail varnish remover has done the trick!

LittleMissPonsible · 20/09/2018 21:51

I used milk to get eyelash dye off my face after an over enthusiastic eyelash tint (by a bloody beautician!).

LittleMissPonsible · 20/09/2018 21:53

Also, I really wouldn’t use bleach. I splashed bleach on my hands and didn’t wash off immediately several years ago and it turned into horrible dry itching skin which spread and still flares up when I’m run down/have to do a lot of cleaning.

SaltyPeanut · 20/09/2018 21:57

Touch of thick bleach. Rinse as well as possible. Wash with washing up liquid. It breaks the surface tension of the slippery slimy bleach residue allowing you to wash the bleach off and helps remove the bleach smell. More thorough rinsing. Then wash with normal soap or handwash and moisturise.

Done it loads of times for hair dye, paint, printer ink etc.

UpstartCrow · 20/09/2018 22:00

What SaltyPeanut said. I have the cold tap running before I apply the bleach then rinse it off straight away, then wash my hands.

Originallymeonly · 20/09/2018 22:00

Amputation is the only way

DeborahDowner · 20/09/2018 22:15

Hydrogen peroxide, if you have it! I keep it for first aid. Boots will sell it but from the chemist, it’s kept behind the counter as is controlled as can be used for nefarious purposes in the wrong hands...... Takes off fake tan too btw. Found that out the hard way but it’s been useful once or twice with fake tan disasters!!

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 20/09/2018 22:20

I'm amused that hydrogen peroxide is kept behind the counter in Boots when you can buy bottles of the stuff in Sally's.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 20/09/2018 22:25

Maybe try Coke or Pepsi. I remember some African elections, perhaps Zimbabwe, in the 80’s where voters had their hands dyed in an attempt to stop cheating. Allegedly, cola removed the dye.

Alternatively, you could wear elegant long gloves to work tomorrow Grin

itsalldyingout · 20/09/2018 22:26

Have you got a magic eraser type block? They take fake tan off, so may work.

Be careful as they can micro-abrade your skin to the point of serious damage.

TheSageofOnions · 20/09/2018 22:27

Dettol might work but it'll stink to high heaven.

DeborahDowner · 20/09/2018 22:28

Yep they sell the hydrogen peroxide freely in other countries, too, it’s a normal first aid item (in addition to hair dye use obviously!) - I was pretty surprised it was sold like this at boots! All cloak and dagger, hidden and suspicious!! Smile

Dancer12345 · 20/09/2018 22:28

@OvO I learnt the hard way that you need to wear gloves!

Butterflycookie · 20/09/2018 22:29

Shaving foam! Gets out any stain
