Or failing that move out and let the fucking mouse I’ve just seen in my bathroom have the lot. Kids, furniture... everything.

Aww. Poor little thing. Set a live trap and release it in the woods. That wee little thing won't hurt you.

SortingTheDrawers · 19/09/2018 01:10

haha as much as that thought thrills me I live in central London so no woods around. I know logically it can’t hurt me but I’m still stood on the bed just in case

Omg we’ve had these posts so many times!
Get a cat!

theworldistoosmall · 19/09/2018 01:18

Fuck releasing the diseased bastard into the woods, fields or anywhere else. That just moves the problem to somewhere else.
And yes get a cat or two.

ThunderInMyHeart · 19/09/2018 01:19

At least not a spider though

Silver linings

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 19/09/2018 01:19

I’m off to bed but just wanted to say GET A CAT!
I have had a mouse invasion (in London) and tried absolutely everything, I promise you really.
The only way to get rid of mice is a cat.

SortingTheDrawers · 19/09/2018 01:20

I’m severely allergic to cats. I think I’ll just move house. By far the easiest solution

OP posts:
Aintnothingbutaheartache · 19/09/2018 01:24

Well, sneeze and take piriton, a cat is the only sure way to get rid of mice.
They have become resistant to all the poisons put down, they are fucking cheeky, I’m telling you if you want a mouse free environment then you must get a cat

Happityhap · 19/09/2018 01:28

You can try traps but the dear little things can manoeuvre the bait out of the traps without setting them off.

FlyingMonkeys · 19/09/2018 01:32

I had visions of the mother spider from hell 😔 ... We had a mouse! Staffy squished it to a mouse shaped crime scene on the floor.... Rehome a staffy and resolve your issue.

Redglitter · 19/09/2018 01:35

I think I’ll just move house. By far the easiest solution

I actually did that Blush

FlyingMonkeys · 19/09/2018 01:37

Side note - we also have a Yorkshire terrier (those dogs that were bred as ratters/mousers)... Yep! Ran screaming from the whole hideous situation..

SortingTheDrawers · 19/09/2018 01:46

I’m actually on the Battersea home website registering now! Would a dog get rid of mice too? I’m allergic to them too but less so than cats. And yes I’ll happily take portion and sneeze if it means no mice Grin

I sympathise. For the past couple of years, early January/February I've been getting mice, making a wee home for themselves (also live in a city)

Used to hoover every night, make sure food was kept high above the kitchen, in cupboards ect, and as soon as I thought I could relax on the sofa with a blanket I would see one scuttling across 😩 I think they just found an entry and trying to keep warm. Problem is, I knew where the entrance was. Underneath the bloody kitchen, so for me to block it, I would need to rip the kitchen out to block the hole.

I still have quite high anxiety thinking I can see a mouse in my peripheral vision.

FlyingMonkeys · 19/09/2018 01:52

Oooh love dog rehoming! Yes 99.9% of terrier breeds love the chase! - my yorkie is a very special case that's scared of.. well frankly everything! - if it's a girl mouse (doubt you'll get the opportunity to check), you many end up with very, very mouse's. Lay humane traps, look for the source/entry route. Get in the specialists if problem persists. Mice wee everywhere and nibbling is a clear sign in areas. Good luck! Enjoy your rehoming and post pics of new happy dog 😍

Well cats are usually the answer to mice problems,, I have three cats,The Mother cat, and her two boy cat offsprings, Mother cat never goes hunting, one boy cat likes to play and knock the mice about, never killing them. The other offspring . is always fetching mice in the house, sometimes he lets a mouse live, other times he will kill it.

I live off road here, and it's a little paradise for cats, several of my neighbours have cats.. My biggest issue this week. is that a badger,or maybe two of them, have churned up some of my lawn, it's a right mess, so just hoping that a badger doesn't come through the cat flap !!

LauderSyme · 19/09/2018 02:17

I thought this was going to be about a car-sized spider.

Just don't move too far. In other countries there are much worse home invaders than mice!

Dorkdiary · 19/09/2018 02:24

A lady online put up a video of a big wild rat in her bathroom this week. I walked into dcs bedroom earlier and almost shit myself after watching it at the owl she has which is solo powered and moves its head side to side.

musicposy · 19/09/2018 02:52

We have a Jack Russell cross and she catches mice every now and then.

They are down her throat quicker than you can blink, tail and all. It's pretty gross but it gets rid of the problem far more efficiently than our cat does. He's also a good mouser but tends to leave half outside DD's bedroom as an offering...

The right dog should solve the issue, yes.

Figural · 19/09/2018 04:04

I'm a cat lover/devoted slave to three at present, and cats are overrated for getting rid of mice. They're great at catching them but then they want to play with them, not kill them. Then they get bored, especially when the mouse hides under the cat, and sod off to get another one. Rinse and repeat.

Yes, honestly, mice do hide under the cat if there's no other shelter available. Mice know cats are longsighted and can't see movement easily at less than about a foot or so. So mouse hides under the cat, masked by the cat's own scent; cat thinks WTF did that go? then goes out for another takeaway. Meanwhile the mouse sits there for a short while until it's sure the cat has gone away, then legs it, probably under the fridge or other place where you can't get at it.

Guess what I've spent a happy (not) evening doing? Bastard cats!

Eliza9917 · 19/09/2018 05:53

Put down peppermint oil. They hate it.

You are definitely not being unreasonable, if I saw a mouse, I'd have to move out til they were gone. You rarely have A MOUSE, if you see one or signs, you have MICE. They never come in ones :(

Monty27 · 19/09/2018 05:57

I would say at least it's not a rat. You know what they say about central London don't you?
I would have poison in every orifice of every pipe and skirting board. Argh

SortingTheDrawers · 19/09/2018 12:49

This is what I’m scared off! The mouse is definitely bringing his wife, parents, cousins, best mates uncle, ex girlfriends brother.

I’ve called pest control now I’m cleaning sides and floors with peppermint oil and lavender

I'll echo what others have said. Get a cat. Problem solved.

I'd wanted a cat for ages but DH didn't. Then we got mice and he agreed. Cat arrives... no more mice!

GreenMeerkat · 19/09/2018 12:52

They're great at catching them but then they want to play with them, not kill them.

Not my cat! He's a bloody savage! They are always dead when he 'presents' them!
