I’m guessing this has probably been asked before and I didn’t need to know back then 🙈😂 but seriously, why do bras made for children need to be padded or even lightly padded?
My poor DD is 10, T-E-N dear people!
She doesn’t need a padded bra, the poor kid is huge already which in turn makes her a lovely target for the body shamers during PE and swimming 😡and add to that she just started her periods too, my poor baby!
She’s at that point where crop tops just aren’t supporting her enough and even the dear old gal that measured her said she needs a proper bra even though it’s only a 30A
I have looked at lots online and the majority are flipping padded, why?

Just in case of any keyboard warriors out there, she’s perfect height and weight for an average 10 year old - so her hormones developing early aren’t because she’s unhealthy or obese! Read that on a period thread a while ago, numpty’s 😳

Whatever happened to cross your hearts? i think they were called

Tumilnaughts · 18/09/2018 19:50

I very clearly remember my nipples bleeding when I was about 10 or 11 because my mother wouldn't buy me slightly padded bra at that age. She just told me to put plasters on them. I was a B cup, healthy weight and normal hormones. It sucks but better to be comfortable than anything else I think.

Doodlesplodge17 · 18/09/2018 19:53

No handstands with tissue stuffed down there that was for sure!

Look up bralettes. There are unpadded and just fine for an A cup. See picture

God give the OP a break. People on the other thread were saying if you develop early it's because you're fat and unhealthy she was clearly calling those people numpty's. She's worried that her daughter's being teased for developing early and it doesn't help if people are saying it's her fault give her a break.

Pinkclarko · 18/09/2018 19:58

No need to apologise, it was very clear what you meant. People just like act offended on here so that they can tell you off. Most are right though, I have smallish boobs and I think they're just shells so people can make our your nipple/actual shape of your boob.

Doodlesplodge17 · 18/09/2018 19:59

MsAdorabelle thank you so much 😊 I most definitely meant that they were numpty’s! I’m not entirely sure how or why it’s been taken differently, but there you go 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you Tumil, I’m definitely going for the feel now rather than the look, I never suffered like you or PP’s but I’m taking comments seriously because my DD’s comfort is the most important thing even if I have to buy padded bras. I think, for me at least, it’s just the fact that she’s only 10 and I’ve not looked at kids bras before to see they’re lightly padded, fully padded, underwired...the list is endless but thanks to some very helpful members I’m on the right track now 😀

It’s the professionally offended brigade. They don’t read properly. Grin

Any help on kids bras is quite welcome. My 11yo has decided to start wearing crop tops even though she’s got nothing to put in them but it’s got me thinking. Grin

As a pp said M&S Angel bras are moulded not padded though they do have some In the children's section as well (not lingerie which is where the Angel bras are) that are very thin, double layered though for coverage.
Also Debenhams do a moulded 2 pack of bras in kids section that come in a few colour combinations.

pumpkinyael · 18/09/2018 20:09

I didn't think you were rude either. Maybe a bit defensive but not rude.

Btw, I still wear bralettes as an adult (I don't have big breasts but they are still quite a bit bigger than an A). Could work for your DD as well and they also look (like many sportsbras) a bit like crop tops. Especially the more sport-y ones :)

Eliza9917 · 18/09/2018 20:24

Those elastic comfort bras are supposed to be really bad for you apparently.

Tumilnaughts · 18/09/2018 20:30

I think moulded ones would be the way to go over padded if you can find them though. Grin

Really? Sigh... Sad

I know that tight bras may hamper breathing and impair lymphatic drainage. Might be a case of many women wearing comfort bras whilst still expecting the same amount of support a padded, underwired instrument of torture bra would give them? Idk... Interesting.

BloodyDisgrace · 18/09/2018 21:37

I've no idea and it annoys me too. I never buy the padded ones and manage to find thin lacy ones in my modest size.
I've noticed that large sizes usually don't have a padding, so maybe anything smaller than tripleG is considered tiny and in need of bigging up?
Never thought nipple protruding is a horror. After all people wear these stupid skinny jeans even though their legs look like carrots in them and nobody worries about that.

BananaBonanza · 18/09/2018 21:48

The angel ones are nice. But I can't tell the difference between them and DD's primark ones at £2.50 a throw....

DD generally prefers Primark Sporks bras and bralets for school. She's not small but she finds them fine.

Primarks bras are fab. For day to day wear I've worn them for years

Doodlesplodge17 · 18/09/2018 22:19

Carrots 🙈🤣

I can't remember why exactly. I think it's to do with support. I was wearing them a lot and noticed I started getting backaches and sore boobs so gathered its right and have stopped wearing them now.
