That chocolate is better at room temp instead of cold from the fridge?

Having a debate at work (clearly all very busy today...) about whether chocolate should be kept in the fridge or not. I never put mine in the fridge and I don’t like it chilled. I seemed to be completely in the minority. AIBU?

YANBU.

I have one exception - caramel bars, e.g. Cadbury's Caramel or Galaxy Caramel. I like those to have the firmer consistency you get from refrigerating them. Anything else, room temperature. And that includes bars where caramel is present but not the main focus, e.g. Boost.

Mars bars, in the freezer for 30 mins or so before eating.

In the UK, room temperature. In the fecking hot desert, fridge temp if you are fortunate enough to have some UK chocolate. And the local stuff that pretends to be Cadbury belongs in the bin.

Cold everytime!!

pumpkinyael · 18/09/2018 17:39

No, chocolate shouldn't be cold!!

Cheap chocolate is better fridged in my view, but the good stuff - room temperature or even melted nothing like melted choc off the spoon....

PinkHeart5914 · 18/09/2018 17:54

Posh chocolates, always room temp as the fridge ruins them

However when I have milkybar giant buttons or muchies share bags, the fridge

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 18/09/2018 18:12

Room temperature or chocolate dipped in tea is the best...

Chocolate belongs in the freezer at my home. Wink

Haven't read the thread but cheap chocolate like Cadburys and so on needs to be chilled to dull the taste and texture of the palm oil. But quality chocolate with 75% cocoa solids and above should be room temperature to allow the flavour profile to be tasted properly.

YANBU.

If it was up to me, all chocolate would be eaten slightly melty.

Katedotness1963 · 18/09/2018 18:57

It depends on the temperature of the room. Where we've lived for the last few years summers are too hot to keep chocolate at room temperature, and when it's warm, it's sickening.

This is the most enthusiastic YANBU I have ever given. People who put chocolate in the fridge should be beaten with sticks.
