That chocolate is better at room temp instead of cold from the fridge?

Having a debate at work (clearly all very busy today...) about whether chocolate should be kept in the fridge or not. I never put mine in the fridge and I don’t like it chilled. I seemed to be completely in the minority. AIBU?

Putting chocolate in the fridge causes the chocolate to "bloom" and the butter&cocoa mix to split. Basically the opposite of what it should do and it's NEVER as good.

Room temp (in a UK climate) or not at all!

Frosty - you can have all my hazelnut ones. I don't like Nutella (too many hazelnuts and too "liquid" we've now established) and can't stand Fererro Rocher chocolates! Whether or not they've been in the fridge.

Frosty66611 · 18/09/2018 15:05

Mmmmm Forerro Rocher

Nope. Room temp chocolate is the best.

It goes so creamy and melts so nicley in your mouth.

Cold chocolate is hard and doesn't seem to melt as nicely as room temp choc.

DaffodilPower · 18/09/2018 15:16

Nooooo never EVER in the fridge!!!!!

TeddybearBaby · 18/09/2018 15:18

You are so right. Constant debate in my house though 😂

CaMePlaitPas · 18/09/2018 15:18

My parents used to be confectioners and we were told never to put chocolate in the fridge because it contributes to bloom (when chocolate turns white). I've always eaten my chocolate at room temperature, I think the cold affects the taste too... bleurgh.

WilyMinx · 18/09/2018 15:19

Depends what temperature the room is . Chocolate wouldn't keep at room temperature when I lived so we always keep it chilled. I do prefer it not cold though. Does taste better.

mydietstartsmonday · 18/09/2018 15:20

In the fridge & let it melt in your mouth.
Though I eat chocolate any way...

reallyanotherone · 18/09/2018 15:21

Neither.

Too much fucking palm oil means the texture is wrong chilled or room temp.

GummyGoddess · 18/09/2018 15:23

Depends on the chocolate. Cheap chocolate goes in the fridge or freezer and has a nice snap to it. Nice Belgian chocolate is eaten at room temperature.

CantankerousCamel · 18/09/2018 15:23

Chocolate should never be refrigerated

hellokittymania · 18/09/2018 15:23

YANBU at all. I love warmer wispa, buttons, gianduia. Only thing i prefer in the fridge is reeses cups

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 18/09/2018 15:24

Cold chocolate is too hard to bite, it makes me think I’m going to yank my teeth out with it

Frosty66611 · 18/09/2018 15:44

@goodheavens me too. Always feel like i’ll chip a tooth when I bite into a rock hard piece of CDM

Fridge chocolate is way too cold to melt nicely in your mouth! ~
Only useful on a very hot day when your bar of choc is very melty and need a quick blast to firm it up :)

StoneofDestiny · 18/09/2018 16:31

I always put chocolate in the fridge- Fry’s Chocolate Cream straight from the fridge is gorgeous

NervousPotato · 18/09/2018 16:33

YANBU - room temp or warmed up 10000000%

RiverTam · 18/09/2018 16:36

Depends on the chocolate. 40-50% milk I put in the fridge, it takes the edge of the sweetness off. I’m talking about the thin slabs you buy, not a Cadbury’s Dairy Milk (which personally I’d put in the bin).

Dark chocolate room temp.

justbinthefeckinbyebyebox · 18/09/2018 16:38

We're not allowed chocolate unless it's been in the fridge! Wink

Babybearsporij · 18/09/2018 16:50

It depends what chocolate it is to be honest, but as a general rule of thumb, I like it room temperature.

choccywokkydoodah · 18/09/2018 16:52

room temp most of the time but for some reason an easter egg shell has to be refrigerated and ate cold. x

SaucyJack · 18/09/2018 17:02

Aero needs to be crunched up straight from the fridge. In one go.

mum11970 · 18/09/2018 17:06

I refrigerate chocolate and freeze curly wurlys. I buy it, so everyone else has to eat it the way I store it or buy their own.

tinytemper66 · 18/09/2018 17:13

My husband puts the chocolate 🍫 in the fridge! Grr!
