To not know what to do about my son who pretended he went to a different school?

My son started year 9 this September. He has a lot of friends at the other secondary school. They started a day earlier than his school did and thought it would be hilarious to go into school with his friends. Apparently they spent most of the morning trying to figure out which classes he was in and caused an uproar at the school. They ended up putting him in classes and telling him they'll sort him out on the system ASAP. DS then obviously never went back and attended his actual school. I have no idea what to do about it. I haven't been contacted and no other word has been said but I hate to think what the other school have done.

I think it's a tiny bit funny. The other school needs to look at it's safeguarding procedures though.

yetanothernane · 16/09/2018 21:44

I probably shouldn't find this quite as funny as I do Grin

Did he borrow a uniform? I'm surprised he managed it

Courtney555 · 16/09/2018 21:46

I must have misread something somewhere, because how did your son manage to attend a full day's school that he shouldn't have been at and you not notice his absence?

chasethebear · 16/09/2018 21:46

All his mates lent him a piece of uniform each! I couldn't actually believe it.

I find it funny too. I think he will go far if he can channel that motivation and determination into other areas!

Notgotajarofglue · 16/09/2018 21:47

This is hilarious Grin

BrokenFlipflop · 16/09/2018 21:47

I thought it was hilarious but didn't dare say so! I feel for the school desperately trying to sort things out. Also how come his actual school didn't contact you to find out where he was or does that not happen on the first day?

chasethebear · 16/09/2018 21:47

He's 13 and said he was going into town with a friend. It's not that I didn't notice he wasn't home.

The school sounds incompetent.
Where did you think your ds was all day? Not criticism, just curious.
I would probably do nothing and wouldn't expect to hear any more about it. School are unlikely to want to highlight their incompetence.

That’s hilarious! Grin

covetingthepreciousthings · 16/09/2018 21:49

Our secondary local schools all have ID keycards & thumbprints - is this unusual?
I guessed most would now to stop anyone entering. It's also gated!

I did find this a bit funny though..I wouldn't do anything, if you've not heard anything maybe nothing will come of it.

QueenOfCatan · 16/09/2018 21:49

How did the school not realise that he wasn't even supposed to be there?! It is ingenious of him and his mates though.

EvilRingahBitch · 16/09/2018 21:49

What did he wear? I’m afraid I think that’s hilarious. It’s a memory that he’ll enjoy for the rest of his life.

cactusplant · 16/09/2018 21:49

That's hilarious Grin

CrochetBelle · 16/09/2018 21:49

Did he give the school his actual contact details?

annikin · 16/09/2018 21:49

I think it's funny! I feel a bit sorry for the admin people involved, but I'm sorry, I still find it funny!

Twotailed · 16/09/2018 21:49

Sounds quite funny and resourceful. Do you need to do anything? He’ll presumably now be too busy with his real school to mess about like that again!

BrokenFlipflop · 16/09/2018 21:49

Ahh I do apologise I misread your original post.

Merryoldgoat · 16/09/2018 21:49

Sorry, that’s really funny...

Wonkypalmtree · 16/09/2018 21:49

Your DS has a great future ahead of him but I suspect that he may drive you to drink a lot of gin...

if you get contacted by School then just deny everything

DorothyGarrod · 16/09/2018 21:49

That is really funny! No harm done I think, I would just leave it.

RedPandaMama · 16/09/2018 21:49

That's so bad but also smart and quite funny! I'd tell him off for wasting people's time and probably chuckle to myself after and keep the story to tell at his 21st / wedding. He could be doing much worse at 13 than doing an extra day in school!
