Posting here for more traffic because I am feeling desperate.

I had a thread in Style & Beauty and got some good suggestions but haven't found the right thing yet.
I am short and barrelesque - my arms, legs, shoulders are reasonable but I am very big around the middle with 38FF boobs.
I'm going on my first sun holiday in years following what have been 2 fairly shit years.
I need at least one swimsuit.

I've looked everywhere I can think but I would like suggestions from similar size women who have actually worn the swimwear suggested.

So far I think this one ticks the most boxes but I don't have time to order and return.

Also, as it's a holiday I think I would like something a little less sensible .......... but I don't know what.
Please, please help.

I left it ridiculously late and had to amazon prime one! I know! I know! But it was fab and I felt a million dollars. It was true to size swim dress. Quite Booby tho! (I’m a size 22 and a DD) www.amazon.co.uk/ALICECOCO-Swimsuit-Control-Swimwear-Swimdress/dp/B074T8ZNMJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ref=plSrch&keywords=plus+size+swimdress&dpPl=1&dpID=41I4siAzP4L&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1537122491&sr=8-10

Joe browns cherry print swim dress. Love it!

Catmint · 16/09/2018 19:32

Sorry just seen your post to me. Swim bra was true to size - I'm a 36h. It was comfy as well. I got the abalone set.

Ninoo25 · 16/09/2018 19:34

I’ve worn the Fantasies Ottawa in black. It’s very flattering. You buy by bra size. I’m a 38-40 E and size 18-20. I found the 38DD actually fitted me best. It is generous and flattering in the body. Good luck, I feel your pain! X

mnahmnah · 16/09/2018 19:36

These are in the next website and do next day delivery. I think they look quite fun Smile

Thanks so much everyone. I'm starting to lose track of all the suggestions so I'm going online window shopping now and will check in later.

Feeling much more hopeful now.

If all else fails do what I did and just wear your bra and a T-shirt in the sea. Saved me getting sunburnt aswell. Smile

bridgetreilly · 16/09/2018 20:16

Personally, I can't see the point of the swim dresses. It's just more fabric flapping around and when it's wet, it still clings tightly.

Jammysod · 16/09/2018 20:17

I had a panache tankini top & cheaper high waisted bottoms. Good support & long in the body, though it is adjustable in length

sleepsforwimps2010 · 16/09/2018 20:21

Im about thr same size/shape as you. I got this one and was very pleased. It looks like a 2 piece tankini but it's actually a one-piece, it's very flattering and a good price!

CaptainBrickbeard · 16/09/2018 20:21

Curvy Kate navy jetty high waist bikini. So lovely and comfortable! I also had an Ewa Michalak bikini which was amazing but quite expensive and you have to order from Poland. High waist bikinis are more flattering than any other kind of swimwear at a size 18-20 ime!

ShinyMe · 16/09/2018 20:25

I second the Panache tankini tops. I have two, a blue floral one and a red leafy one. The cups are really supportive and there are two layers to the tankini so it's quite holdy-in for the stomach. I then just got some black swim short bikini bottoms from a supermarket, I think.

nancybelle · 16/09/2018 20:39

I’ve bought and loved swimwear from ASOS curve before. My favourite one isn’t there just now but there are some nice and some quite daring ones in stock just now. www.asos.com/women/curve-plus-size/swimwear/cat/?cid=9583

hula008 · 16/09/2018 20:39

I'm bigger than you (22/24) but wear a mix of both swimming costumes and bikinis. I get swimming costumes from Sainsbury's and ASOS, they just seem to be well made and stylish. Bikinis I get cheaper from boohoo as I find they are more forgiving in length (I'm not tall but have a long torso and a bit of a belly so a bikini is good for this)

I always get a high waisted bikini - my go to is a black with cut outs high neck/high waisted bikini. My other favourite is a black with mesh panels swimming costume (I like black). If I'm swimming for exercise I'll wear a swimming costume.

Bullnoway · 16/09/2018 20:46

I bought some high wasted, 50s style, ruched bikini shorts from amazon now about £6, and wore a fairly booby bikini top from Marks. I went fully for the 1960s look and felt grand. My view is that super covered up draws more attention, and that focusing on your assets, which I imagine includes a superb cleavage, means people look less at your bottom or whatever.

Ginmakesitallok · 16/09/2018 20:53

I'm the same size and had a one piece from next which looked like a tankini

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 16/09/2018 20:53

@Fruitbatdancer - I’d bet my bollocks if you’re a size 22 you’re not a DD - have you done a bra intervention lately - you’ll be amazed! Have a google for the bra intervention threads to see how to measure properly - most women go down by quite a few inches and then up many many cup sizes and find their bra is comfortable for the first time ever!!

TheFluffyHippo · 16/09/2018 20:59

I’m the same as Travis

36HH, size 20 and I look banging in a bikini, even if I do say so myself!

I get all mine from Curvy Kate. Bloody love ‘em! I really do think if your boobs are well supported (in bras and swimwear), then you’ll instantly look fab. Check out their social media- lots of examples of customers wearing their swimwear and they all look amazing. They do swimsuits/ tankinis if you prefer more coverage

HighwayDragon1 · 16/09/2018 21:01

I'm a 16 and wore a standard bikini because I just don't give a fuck what people think of me!

Chocolate1984 · 16/09/2018 21:07

The bra was really supportive giving a nice shape, the leg was low/medium cut giving more coverage. I ordered a few sizes and picked the best fit.

AveEldon · 16/09/2018 21:10

speedo

AJPTaylor · 16/09/2018 21:13

I am 50. 36gg 5ft 1 and 11 stone. All of it on my belly back and boobs.
I go for tankini from bravissimo. I am short in the body so swimming costumes are too long for me. Also v hard to get off and on for a wee.

Schroedingerscatagain · 16/09/2018 21:22

I’m another small barrel 36j and a huge fan of the elomi swim wear

I tend to pick up the last season designs from ebay at very reasonable prices

I have also had Freya bikinis in the past when I was a bit younger which give a great shape

RamblingFar · 16/09/2018 21:38

32G size 18 here.

Fantasie bikini (often with swim shorts over the top) on holiday. Can support the boobs.

Speedo swimsuit for serious swimming. Squash the boobs into order.
