Fishnet stockings, with suspenders showing 3” below the hem of a miniskirt?

Surely a nurse knows to wear practical clothing fit for purpose? How ridiculous to turn up like that.

Is there not something in personal code about wearing appropriate clothing and professional integrity

My answer was that it could be distracting to disinhibited patients, and wasn’t practical as she may inadvertently reveal areas of her anatomy.
Having read other threads here about school uniform I’m wondering if this ties in with the “victim blaming” culture too, or if there are exceptions where it really is inappropriate to wear clothing that highlights sexual attractiveness.

I don't think that it was appropriate to say any of that. You should have just said that it's not smart business attire and so is not acceptable. I'd have been furious if somebody had spoken to me like that about clothes I had chosen to wear.

That is bizarre! You definitely did the right thing. It’s made me think of something I have always noticed over my working life in office environments, including nhs and mental health: women, approximately in their 50s, wearing white but sheer to semi sheer blouses with really lacy, detailed bras, so you all you can see is every detail of their lacy , scalloped, bra. Quite often mid-large chested ladies too so it’s really in yer face!

I am not offended by it and have no problem with bra straps showing etc, but it always strikes me as an odd thing to wear in a professional workplace. And it is always someone 50s and upwards. In my 20s I never would have done it, in my 30s now I wouldn’t. In my free time yes, but at work?

I have always wondered what that was about. Has anyone else ever noticed this or is it just me?!
