To think she was very rude

Done alot of walking today (about 2 and a half hours) I wanted to board the bus to pick up my children from the town centre to their school. I got on the bus and a woman with a double buggy (tandem one behind the other) was parked across the two spaces and immediately said to me “I have a double!” I looked at her abit confused as she was clearly
parking across the two spaces and was herself standing in the pram space making no attempt to move. She said “I could move it but” and finish the sentence! I ended up getting off and walking as she was cleary being a dick. Im in london for anyone that knows the lay out will know sometimes even prams can fit side by side and Ive had a double myself and it still allowed for other prams to fit on! aibu to think she was really rude?

I'll never for the life of me understand why people who are reliant on public transport don't get a buggy which is suitable for public transport rather than a travel system thing.

Tqndem pushchairs do not stick out on the aisle on any london bus! She was rude ive been a few times (with both side by side and the other double pushchair) and my lo's still fit. she just needs to be a bit considerate move the pram and her self.

Thanks hayli. Its very true ive been on with both types of double and its never been an issue hence how shocked I was at her rudeness.

@Creeper8 I'm loving the responses from people who don't ride tfl buses! Hmm

There is always room for two side by side. The other women should have moved for you. Even on a packed bus in rush hour and especially if one buggy is badly positioned. As others have said, next time be more assertive!

BlancheM · 12/09/2018 19:45

I don't understand people sometimes. I'm almost the opposite in that if I've been 'lucky' enough to get a space on the bus, I always look out the window as we pull up to stops to check someone with more priority isn't getting on because if so, I'm ready to move or get off. I could never be so entitled to take up all the space and feel ok with it!

Amanduh · 12/09/2018 19:53

She could easily have fit. She was very rude.

Creeper8 · 12/09/2018 19:53

Same blancheM, I am always prepared to move when I see another pram boarding, I couldnt imagine parking across 2 spaces and standing in the pram bay aswell so that no one else is allowed on. So what if she had to move out and stand in the aisle! plenty were. Its like saying when buses are busy and people stand in the pram bit they shouldnt have to move when a pram boards because they dont want to block the aisle! Luckily most people move without question.

Very true twolittlebears
I was starting to get annoyed having to repeatedly explain that we both could have fit easily had she adjusted her pram!

@Creeper8 YABU for calling it a pram bay - it is the disabled space, that you have the privilege to use if it is unoccupied by a disabled person.

Yes, the woman sounds like a twat, and you needed to be more assertive. Also, in my experience London buses are frequent so you could have just got on the next one.
