I am about to buy some decent shoes or wellies to walk the dog in we normally do country parks and beach walks both rocky and sandy. I need something sturdy as have baby well 15month old in carrier aswell.

Whats better wellies or walking boots? Reconsiderations welcome...budget around £30 to £40
ps I love these

Walking boots are much better for your feet if you are walking more than half a mile or so.

My experience of Joules wellies is that they are poor quality and an appalling fit but they look pretty!

Walking boots, especially now it's coming into winter. I had Hunter wellies and even with extra inserts my feet weren't warm or supported enough.

I got a pair of Salomon ones a couple of years ago and they're still going strong. DH refused to pay much for his and bought a basic Decathlon pair, which now let the water in. So I think there is an element of 'you get what you pay for', especially for dog walking every day.

Thanks for all your suggetions and for the heads up on the joules wellies. Mucking boots seem a popular option aswell.

Aigle wellies have got a very supportive arch and I've never had an issue with mine... they're also warm to -20c or something and I've never had cold feet.

You def get what you pay for with wellies.

Should have born my wellies or walking boots today. Grass was wet at 9.00 am!

Proper leather walking boots unless it’s really wet and muddy. I’ve just bought some Muckboots. Ridiculously expensive so they’d better be worth it.

@Squirrel26 - I wear Ariats every day for several hours, I usually get a year out of a pair before I've knackered them. Never had the lining rip.
