We always say in the week, we'll do something go for a walk etc but come Sunday we always end up basically slobbing out in our pyjamas watching cheesy TV movies or having an ncis/friends marathon. My teenager uses her Sunday as her studying/homework day and my little one loves having the day with her toys. This morning was doing the same thing but this afternoon I've got the whole family tidying up, I'm doing the living room, kids their rooms and DP doing the kitchen. I've said its something I feel maybe we do weekly. Does anyone have anything specific they do on a Sunday?x

We like a day of rest on a Sunday. Saturday is the day we are always out, although we will go out a Sunday if asked for dinner/birthdays etc.

I do cleaning in the mornings, while dh will play with our son’s and then he will cook a early dinner. After we usually watch a film, whatever is showing on channel 5. Then it’s early bed for the boys while we relax and get everything ready for the week ahead.

We do a variety of things, but mostly a chilled day. Slept a bit later this morning, then I went out for rolls and made bacon rolls for everyone. I went to church (DC usually come too) while DH and DC played Fifa. When I got back, DC were out playing football with friends (came back three hours later). I did some work prep for an hour, did some OU work for an hour or two, then ironed all the uniforms for the week.
We all had some soup for lunch, then I went to the gym. DC chilled, DH went to the gym and to visit a friend who had called round while he was skyping his overseas sister. DH made dinner, now we are just having a bit of a slump. Will light the fire and pour a glass of wine soon, just about to bath the DC.

Fairly typical Sunday, for us - ie chilled but bit active and a bit productive.

Sunday's are my favourite day!

Dd (3.8 years old) wakes me up. We have breakfast and watch a bit of tv. Then we go to the pool for an hour or so, after that we go to the local chip shop where dd gets her chips and gravy and I might have a battered sausage depending on how strict I'm being with the relentless diet that week. Then we'll go shopping, dd might get a toy if she's lucky and then it's back home for a roast dinner and chilling on the sofa watching films for the rest of the day Smile

Breakfast in bed and then coffee and the sunday newspapers.

Followed by lots of cwtches with our youngest DD10 and then we'll all watch some tv together(we have 5DC)and me and my DH will potter around doing some housework and gardening.

If were staying in for the day we'll have some lunch and play in the garden with the DC(which ever one's want to play)then we'll watch a movie and play some board games whilst the dinner's cooking in the oven.

Then the evening is spent having dinner and pudding, watching something funny on the tv,making sure that our 3 youngest DC have everything ready that they need for school, sorting the laundry and the clothes for the next day and getting the 3 youngest to have baths and hair washed and then supper for them and story time and bed for our youngest.

If were going out it's breakfast in bed and cwtches and then we'll get ready and go out,I try to make sure we've got the laundry done, beds aired and washing up done before we go out and then if we're staying out for the whole day we'll have lunch and dinner out and then the same sunday evening routine when we get home just done within 2 hours instead of 3.

Awww I love all these comments. It's sometimes so nice to have a window in others peoples lives and routines like that. I ended completely deep cleaning the lounge including taking sofas apart and hoovering them all. Had a quick shower, home made chip buttys and then a movie. I'm tired BUT my depression isn't it's usually Sunday evening self. I feel a bit more relaxed. Hope you've all enjoyed you Sunday's xx

DH and I take turns to take kids to rugby training (DD doesn't play but prats about with her friend at the sidelines).

Pub lunch or DH cooks something nice.

Walk at a NT place or country park, cake in the cafe. Or if we're tired, movie at home or kids ride their scooters out at the front. I often have a nap!

Evening- tidy for the cleaner who comes on a Monday, baths, lunchboxes etc- get ready for the week.

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 22:06

mumof2sarah - you mention depression; do you find Sundays are worse?

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 09/09/2018 22:11

Lazy breakfast with the papers, making pancakes or something then take a picnic/hot chocolate somewhere where the DC can race around and explore, maybe a NT or EH place. Eat a nice dinner in the evening together with a 'proper' pudding, which is weekends only really. DC's baths and stories etc.

We usually try to make Sunday a real family day, basically. Evenings, I try to work for a bit (like now, on MN Grin), DH and I have cheese on toast for supper, baths and early-ish night.

mumof2sarah · 09/09/2018 22:16

@therewillbetime not as such, it's just because we usually end up lazing about in our pyjamas and not doing anything I guess I just get into a bit of a stupor. If I actively do something I don't feel as bad. If I did it on a Wednesday I'd feel the same x

Yes, I see what you mean.

Ollivander84 · 09/09/2018 22:28

Single and no DC
Food shop
Catch up on TV
Head to work around 3-4pm depending on shift and get home around 10pm
Prep food for work
Sleep!

sophisticatedsarcasm · 09/09/2018 22:41

Between September and May most of my sundays are spent watching my sister playing foodtabll in the morning...then we watch whatever football is on tv in the afternoon. Otherwise we just chill or do some gardening etc..l

I change the bedsheets every Sunday. That means even though Sunday night has the whole back to work in the morning thing there's the consolation of fresh sheets

Ladybirdbookworm · 10/09/2018 00:06

I love this thread. I remember years ago a Sunday paper used to have a column on what a featured celebrity did on a Sunday.
I loved it - anyway I usually have a lovely Sunday but today I've spent it in bed or on the sofa in PJs because I stayed up last night with our poorly dog.
