To wonder where to get good quality plus size clothes..

I'm a size 20, tall (5ft 9), very pear shaped (big old lower tummy) and quite big thighs/calves. I'm so tired of the usual suspects for plus sizes being all floral or cold shoulder tops. Neither of which I suit.

Any recommendations for decent clothing? I'm happy to pay a bit more for quality that will last than have a massive wardrobe full of cheap stuff.

I like Simply Be. I can usually find something there. Give it a try?

Babyroobs · 06/09/2018 16:32

I always think TK Max is great for tops, that's where I get most of mine from.

FooFighter99 · 06/09/2018 16:34

"Yours Clothing" are my favourite t the moment. Loads of choice and not over priced like Evans

Medea13 · 06/09/2018 16:34

Navabi!!!!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 06/09/2018 16:38

I find Yours shocking for quality to be fair. It’s mostly fashion stuff with a trend to bits of fabric missing from the arms and/or massive slogans, it doesn’t cater for taller people, and it washes incredibly poorly too. Their underwear range is appallingly restrictive in size considering the market they’re aiming for.

I’ve found some nice bits on ASOS curve before today. No idea about higher quality though. There’s a general assumption that plus size people have to be willing to put up with crap.

bridgetreilly · 06/09/2018 16:43

Seasalt now go up to size 26 and have really lovely things.Boden go up to size 22. But at size 20 you can also shop at Next, Sainsburys and Tesco, all of which have nice clothes in my experience, without having to pay £££ more than for non-plus-sized clothes. You have a LOT of options that are not plus-sized specialists.

peachgreen · 06/09/2018 16:47

Agree with PP about Seasalt, Boden and the supermarkets. Navabi for the odd treat. ASOS Curve have the odd thing but it's very hit and miss. All specialist plus size retailers are crap quality, very depressing.

noeffingidea · 06/09/2018 16:50

Have you tried Sainsburys? I really like some of their new winter stuff. Think they go up to a size 22.

Tiredtomybones · 06/09/2018 16:51

Sainsburys here too.

primoestate · 06/09/2018 16:59

Scarlet and Jo online

PhannyMcNee · 06/09/2018 17:22

5ft10, size 20 peary hourglass (have big boobs, a waist but thunderous thighs).

I wear a lot of Seasalt, Boden, Joules and Sainsbury's. I am also embracing Primark under the influence of 17yo ds!

argumentativefeminist · 06/09/2018 17:25

Primark! The slightly more expensive stuff tends to last well. I know it has a reputation for being cheapy tat and some of it still is, but it's diversifying more and more from the cheap basics.

MaudesMum · 06/09/2018 17:27

Cos technically goes up to size 18, but much of its clothing is entirely fine if you're bigger. They're very good if you don't want florals and prefer something more minimalist. Unfortunately you really need to try clothes on - the website doesn't really help!

cycleasy · 06/09/2018 17:28

Make them yourself out of sack cloth?

garethsouthgatesmrs · 06/09/2018 17:29

Try marisota

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 06/09/2018 17:30

Boden and Seasalt for me, with a couple of bits from Sainsburys and M&S. (5ft 3" size 22).
Can't bear the neverending polyester in places like Simply Be, Yours etc...

Mrsmadevans · 06/09/2018 17:33

M&S are really upping their game , also l like Country Rose in EWM , think Joules but less expensive.

TheOnlyPink · 06/09/2018 17:33

I love Dorothy Perkins. They have a talk range that goes up to a 22, and a plus range. Lots of classic shapes and colours. I'm a 22, and almost everything I have is from there because I can't stand slogans or cold shoulders!

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 06/09/2018 17:34

ASOS!

Fstar · 06/09/2018 17:34

Honestly i buy loads from geroge at asda, excellent quality for good prices. In tops i go up a size but bottoms are ok sizing.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/09/2018 17:34

As others have said - Simply Be/JD Williams, Yours - and I would add Bonprix.

Joe Browns dresses are lovely - Simply Be have his plus sized range - I wear the knee length ones with leggings, and love them.

Mooey89 · 06/09/2018 17:36

Boohoo and ASOS for me, yours and simply be are my faves.
Lady V for special occasions

Deshasafraisy · 06/09/2018 17:36

ASOS do a plus size range

Sardinesandparsnips · 06/09/2018 17:37

Plum boutique in the Cotswolds is lovely. Really good quality and stylish too:) It's tricky isn't it?

Magair · 06/09/2018 17:39

Violeta, Mango’s plus size range is lovely
