To ask for your best toddler days out around Leeds?

Socksandshoes · 05/09/2018 21:59

We tend to do the same things so are getting a bit bored.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a day out that would entertain a two year old in and around Leeds.

Thanks in advance

Tong Garden Centre

Marmite27 · 05/09/2018 22:03

Lotherton Hall, and my minds gone completely blank now! Sad

Fivechukchuks · 05/09/2018 22:05

Lotherton Hall, tropical world, Yeadon tarn to feed the ducks and watch the airplanes. How far from Leeds? Yorkshire sculpture Park past Sheffield, or magna has a huge playground.

cloudsrainsun · 05/09/2018 22:08

Ilkley for the park and walk along the river, Pudsey Park, Eureka isn't to far away, Golden Acre Park to feed the ducks.

cloudsrainsun · 05/09/2018 22:08

Ponderosa and Stockeld Park.

LePetitPont · 05/09/2018 22:10

Riverside park in otley is fab. Also Roberts park in saltaire with a trip to salt’s diner. Wonderlab at Bradford media museum.

WereAllBladesArentWe · 05/09/2018 22:11

Golden Acre or Roundhay Park, Tropical World, Harewood House, Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Harrogate, Harewood House,

Potcallingkettle · 05/09/2018 22:11

Cannon Hall farm
Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Nostell Priory (just the garden)
Forbidden Corner

NannyR · 05/09/2018 22:12

The kids I look after love going to lotherton hall and temple newsam for days out - both have got animals to look at and decent playgrounds.
Roundhay park and tropical world.
Grasshoppers at tong garden centre.
Depending on whereabouts in Leeds you are; goldenacre is nice for an hour or two wandering round and feeding the ducks and yeadon tarn is brilliant for toddlers, there are ducks to feed, planes to watch taking off and landing, a playground and the lake is just the right size for a toddler to walk round.
Roberts park (a bit further afield in saltaire) is lovely too.

Swishswish26 · 05/09/2018 22:12

Grasshoppers at Tong Garden Centre is brilliant, Temple Newsam (big playground and a farm with ride on tractors, another smaller playground and animals).

Socksandshoes · 05/09/2018 22:19

Wow some great ideas. Thank you.
We live close to golden acre so go there, the tarn and otley park quite often.
Roberts park and None go bye farm are favourites too.

Thank you again. I will have a look at some of these and decide on a day out for tomorrow.

Tong garden centre for a day out? Confused. I live quite near there and I don't think I've ever been. I've driven past it to go to the farm shop, which has donkeys BTW. There's also a little Children's playground at the carvery pub at the end but now I need to see what Tong garden centre actually is, because I thought it was a, umm, garden centre, you know, plants and shit, not a tourist attraction.

I can offer Anglers country park, Newmillerdam and Pugneys south of Wakefield.

NannyR · 05/09/2018 22:42

Barbara It's not the garden centre, but the outdoor play area that's worth visiting with little kids grasshoppers

Socksandshoes · 05/09/2018 22:43

There’s a big outdoor play thing there now Barb. It’s called ‘grasshoppers’ and has a park, bounce pillows, sand pit and other bits. We took dd a few weeks ago.
Adults are free and it cost £4.50 for dd.

Thank you all so much again. WI actually ended up at Thornton Hall farm which is a lovely day out with a little one.
Dd is just sleeping off her excitement in the back of the car and I am trying not to nod myself.
Have lots of ideas for next weekend now.

Kirkstall abbey and Abbey house museum are a nice day / afternoon out.
Or Leeds city museum with a trip to central library and coffee in tiled hall afterwards.
Take the water taxi from granary warf to Royal armouries ( i think only in weekends?)

chaoscategorised · 06/09/2018 15:38

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm!

79Fleur · 06/09/2018 16:04

Swithens farm in rothwell is a great cheap day out and you can pick up something lovely from the farm shop for dinner.

Assburgers · 06/09/2018 16:08

They do a messy play thing in Leeds museum on the ground floor. I think it’s on on Friday mornings.

Socksandshoes · 06/09/2018 20:11

Oh the messy play thing sounds good. We have plans tomorrow but I may try that next week.
Dd loves a farm so will definitely be going to those.
I don’t mind travelling so suggestions that are a little further away are very welcome too.
We had a lovely time at the jungle experience and park/ water table thing at Manor Heath in Halifax during the summer.

Cannon Hall Farm, Piglets Adventure Farm, RHS Harlow Carr, Harewood, the ground floor of Leeds City Museum has some fab stuffed animals, Hesketh Farm Park ...

MrsWooster · 06/09/2018 20:15

Play barn at Rawdon / Guiseley is lovely for a rainy day
www.thebarnemsleys.co.uk/
Quite sad when mine grew out of it!

MoMandaS · 06/09/2018 20:20

Hollybush garden in kirkstall is good for an hour or so. It's free but parking very limited so you might like to park in the retail park and walk up (2 mins). It's by the river canal so you can extend it with a pushchair walk. There's a café, too.

Chunkamatic · 06/09/2018 21:20

Hepworth gallery in Wakefield has specific toddler days and a nice cafe.
Cannon hall farm as other have said.
Williams den is near Beverley so a bit further a field but worth checking out.
