To ask for your best toddler days out around Leeds?

We tend to do the same things so are getting a bit bored.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a day out that would entertain a two year old in and around Leeds.

Thanks in advance

Temple Newsam was heaving with toddlers when we went there - large rare breeds farm park.

Harewood House - v nice small zoo plus trip across the lake.

Kirkstall Abbey and the Victorian streets museum place across the road.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

I don’t agree about Swithens Farm!

It’s disgustingly dirty, and feels very run down. I know they bang on about it being a working farm, but we went to Cannon Hall Farm the week before we went to Swithens and the contrast is enormous!

Also by the time you’ve paid Farm entry AND soft play entry at Swithens, it’s not actually that cheap.

Avoid Swithens!

Oakwell Hall is nice for a walk and a play on the park, and Clifton Park is amazing when it’s hot with the splash park.

Leeds museum has a toddler play area upstairs which is handy if you have one who needs regular run around.

Swithens is a bit run down it definitely feels a bit dirty when you go the week after cannon hall farm

Buuuuuuuuuut

When you have littlies that love getting close it's worth it to feed the baby lambs and goats bottles of milk and also hand feed the cows and stuff.

You do need to wash your hands really well as with any farm but we think it's a nice day out and the food is nice.

Piglets farm near York has got good reviews as well as York maze.

Horsforth Hall Park is a nice one with the sand pit but last time we went there was a big fair on so it turned out a tad expensive Grin however I would say its worth going to the summer fair next year lots of local stalls and freebies.

Also even if you don't go to grasshoppers or pay the extortionate price to see santa I'd still recommend taking a two year old to tong garden centre in the run up to Christmas. Lots of lights an decorations and usually a giant snow globe.

Hesketh Farm near Bolton Abbey is our current favourite. Lots of animals to see, tractor ride and some great play areas.

Socksandshoes · 07/09/2018 08:50

I must time it wrong for Heaketh farm. It’s always closed when I want to go.

We went to piglets farm at Easter and dd loved it. I have just had an email with their Christmas experience on.

Does anyone know where the best Christmas experiences are? I think that dd might actually be old enough to enjoy some of it this year and I am so excited for it already!

Shibden Hall Park near Halifax has a boating lake and little train.

Stanley Ferry Wacky Warehouse/Pub and there's the canal and some ducks/geese etc

Rothwell Park

Leeds Country Park also near Rothwell, although this seems weirdly quiet. I walked to there up the canal from Woodlesford a couple of weeks ago and there was literally no one there except me Confused. Weather was quite nice too.

Harewood House, Temple Newsam, Lotherton Hall, Roundhay Park, Tong Garden Centre (when nice - it's all outdoor). Bit further afield but Stockeld Park, Piglets Adventure Farm, York Maze, Eureka, Pugney's.

Water taxis run everyday every 20mins or so, you can pick it up near the rear entrance of station (I pass it on way to work).

Might be a bit far for you, but Billy Bob's near Skipton is our go to when we're at a loose end. You can double it with Hesketh farm visit as it's nearby.

Hasn't white rose centre got a new kids play area now, not been but seen it on Facebook?

Thanks for asking this as I'm also picking up tips Grin

AnythingNotEverything · 07/09/2018 09:56

Lotherton Hall did a nice Christmas event last year. There's a onto on at The Carriageworks - that was good last year too.

Marmite27 · 07/09/2018 23:42

The play area at the White Rose centre is quite small and on a ridiculous slope, not really a day out type of thing, but good to let off steam after shopping.

Middleton Railway has steam trains running from their station to the park.
