Meanwhile in North Korea: NK believes US conservative politicians are spreading inaccurate stories about the nation. This is unacceptable.

American Politicians Should Not Spread False Story about DPRK: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Conservative politicians of the U.S. have cooked up and spread a series of cock-and-bull stories, saying that no one knows when and how the DPRK would carry out its promise, it is conducting a work for concealing its nuclear assets and the situation might make a U-turn, says Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a commentary.

Untrustworthy is not the DPRK but just the conservative politicians of the U.S. seeking to disrupt the DPRK-U.S. dialogue at any cost by spreading a "story about doubtful north Korea," the commentary notes, and goes on:

The conservative politicians have done nothing for the building of trust between the DPRK and the U.S. But they are now crying out for resuming the south Korea-U.S. joint military drills, the halt of which had already been made public on the part of the U.S.

Ridiculous is the fact that the conservative politicians are forcing more and more brigandish demands on the DPRK though they fail to do what they should do.

As they don't know well what's going on now and are misjudging everything, the conservative politicians of America are going so foolish as to unhesitatingly attempt to get rid of the DPRK's nukes just like disposing of the properties of a defeated nation.

Taking this opportunity, we again warn the conservative politicians against their self-righteous way of thinking. They had better study more about the DPRK.

They are well advised to remember the disgrace suffered by their predecessors who handed written apologies and surrender to the DPRK without caring about the decency of their American empire.

Dialogue without mutual respect and trust is not dialogue at all.

"Do not betray dialogue partner's trust!" -- this is what we have to say to the U.S., never vice versa.

We are dealing with the U.S. with goodwill and patience.

It is our mettle to do to the end what it is determined to do and once it begins to do.

"Only north Korea is seen in the course of building trust between it and the U.S." This is just what the international community says and the conservative politicians of the U.S. need to listen to it carefully.

They should clearly understand that their base speech and conduct is turning the U.S. into an untrustworthy state and an isolated and closed country.

No matter how frequently such human dregs nudged out of a strong trend of the times let out a string of paradox and put the brakes on the development, the peoples of the DPRK and the U.S. will do what they want to do as the engine for the improvement of the bilateral relations will never weaken.

The more desperately the conservative politicians of the U.S. check the development of the DPRK-U.S. relations by spreading a "story of doubtful north Korea", the more clearly it will betray their true colors as disgusting ones working hard to realize their wild political ambition only. -0-

I wish I spoke Korean. (It's not that I distrust your translation as such - just that there are often subtleties which a translation sometimes loses. This piece may be one of those.)

TheClaws · 17/09/2018 04:05

I’m certain there are subtleties in this piece that don’t translate well, cozie. That could be the difference. There is a sharpness and pointedness in the phrasing that some Westerners - perhaps 45? - might have trouble grasping. That said, this one is more direct than others I’ve read.

Kavanaugh faces his #MeToo test to reach Supreme Court
Long before the assault allegation emerged, the White House sought to inoculate Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh with a strong pro-women stance.

Holy cow!Shock

I was reading through that article checking in case he's been selectively quoted or that wasn't quite what he said.

Nope. That's what he said. And on the tail of a long history of similar.

[Paul LePage] said: "When you go to war, if you know the enemy and the enemy dresses in red and you dress in blue, then you shoot at red."
He added: "You shoot at the enemy. You try to identify the enemy and the enemy right now, the overwhelming majority of people coming in, are people of colour or people of Hispanic origin."

He's saying it in the context of people who commit drug offences, BTW. But his comments go way beyond those people.

Indeed, his premise is wrong even within the confines of people who commit drug offences. From the same article:

The Portland Press Herald published FBI statistics which show that 1,211 people were arrested on charges of drug sales or manufacturing in Maine in 2014. Of those, 170 - 14.1% - were black, and almost all the rest were white.

CNN’s Dana Bash says Republicans are actually pretty freaked out about the kavanaugh accusations and how they impact the elections.

I'm confused why people think it only needs one Repug to flip. I thought there were Dems in tight races in red states - Doug Jones, Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp who are still undecided about Kavanaugh?

Gumpendorf · 17/09/2018 10:58

I've read the politico article now. Flake is on the Judiciary committee and therefore his vote counts there. Blush

Our Steel Industry is the talk of the World. It has been given new life, and is thriving. Billions of Dollars is being spent on new plants all around the country!

Tariffs have put the U.S. in a very strong bargaining position, with Billions of Dollars, and Jobs, flowing into our Country - and yet cost increases have thus far been almost unnoticeable. If countries will not make fair deals with us, they will be “Tariffed!”

“A lot of small & medium size enterprises are registering very good profit, sometimes record profits-there stocks are doing very well, low income workers are getting big raises. There are an awful lot of good things going on that weren’t during Pres. Obama’s Watch.” Peter Morici

One year after alleged sexual assault, Kavanaugh’s friend and alleged accomplice (Mark Judge) thought it great to associate himself with this quote in their high school yearbook 1983:
