To think Glastonbury High Street is full of fake people?

Just that, really. I visited over the weekend. I have no doubt some people are genuinely into spirituality and magic but it seemed a lot of people were trying way too hard to be wacky and it seemed to be full of “look at MEEEEE” types of people. Laughing and talking very loudly to draw attention to themselves and with a sour whiff of superiority and arrogance about them.

I’m sorry, I’m sure there are loads of nice people there. I just hardly met any! On the plus side the people who own the shops full of tat left us alone apart from an initial greeting when we entered.

Maybe it was a long journey. Maybe it was camping. But the majority of people irritated me! I’m sure I irritated them too and they are glad to see the back of miserable me Wink

The tor was a nice experience though I felt very sick and dizzy at the top.

Anyone been and experienced similar or was it just me being a grumpy sod?

@dayswithaY

Interesting! Even though Glastonbury wasn’t my cup of tea, like others have said who haven’t been, I want to visit Totnes now to see if I experience the nasty undercurrent (goodness knows why)

I was in Glastonbury Saturday night dropping a friend home. There were groups of "witches" in purple robes walking around the town so we stopped and watched. Quite interesting hearing the spells and chanting!

Seems to me that Glastonbury (high street) attracts the lost souls who are searching for something/someone to save them and hope they will lead some bohemium hippy lifestyle. Sadly, the darker side of Glastonbury is drugs and alcohol abuse mixed in with theft. Lived near to Glastonbury for far too long to think it is all love and light.

On a brighter note - yes to Burns the Bread - love it!

There seems to be quite a few Somerset peeps on here :)

"The goddesses are meant to be archetypes for things or phases that are real rather than an existing being,"

Really? So the Temple (more specifically those behind it) are no longer claiming they are actual historical Goddesses but are completely made up by the Temple and those behind it?? Glad to hear it.

No, you've missed the point again and I feel no matter what I say it will not change your opinion but its no different to any other church. Does it really matter to you and is it harming you?

"Does it really matter to you and is it harming you"

Yes it matters when people who claim to be spiritual leaders tell obvious lies, especially when they make a lot of money from those lies. And yes, the Goddess Temple is no different to any other church that takes money from the gullible and the desperate.

I dont believe in any Abrahamic religions but I dont call them fraudsters!

I find Glastonbury very creepy, almost sinister undercurrents.
Don't know whether it's the pseudo- witchcraft or the weird individuals the town attracts.
I avoid the place as much as possible, very unsettling.

MissionItsPossible · 04/09/2018 18:47

Interesting that people describe it as sinister. I didn’t think that, I just found it fake and like people were generally acting parts! Are there any other places apart from the aforementioned Totnes that have a lot of people agreeing it has strange vibes or can anyone explain the vibes or experiences they felt in Glastonbury? (I read the ‘creepiest things’ thread earlier hence the question lol).
