dd going out

Hello everyone.
We have recently moved and we are living next door to these two girls who are sisters and both seventeen years old. They are rebellious and have got up to bad things in the past. However, my dd (9 yrs) has become quite chummy with them. The two girls keep asking my dd out to town with them and I always say no as I'm anxious that she won't be looked after. The two seventeen-year-olds say I'm old-fashioned and need to stop being so overprotective.
AIBU and should I let my dd out in town with the two teens and loosen up?
TIA

I used to work with a former drug dealer. He told me that it was common for dealers to befriend children under the age of ten to use them as mules. The reason they do this he said was that to search children of that age police have to take them to the station and do it on the presence of a parent or other responsible adult so usually don't bother.

Yes OP, what do you mean you'll decide in a few months? Oh maybe that you'll know the sisters better by then? I still wouldn't risk it.

No 17 year old adult wants to be friends with a 9 year old!?

My first thought was carrying drugs or possibly even weapons.

I would keep my child well away from them.

Don't think the actual taking her out is an issue.

I use to take my brother out at that age as I loved being able to treat him with my wages.

But you don't trust these girls for good reason due to past behaviour and therefore age etc is irrelevant. You've said no and the fact they've insulted you in reply shows you were right to say no.
