To ask what benefits I'm entitled to?

Hi all, pregnant with first child, will soon be on mat leave, partner is a full time worker and we own our own home. I would like to stay on mat leave as long as possible (as quite frankly I don't earn enough to merit going back to work and paying for childcare)

So, what benefits am I entitled to help us? I'm not glued up with it all as ive never claimed any kind of benefit before!
Thanks Smile

Even if the OP is not paying rent but a mortgage is still doesn't mean she couldn't be entitled. The 'conditions of entitlement' are the set of rules applied to each benefit or pension that enables a payment to be made to someone who satisfies those conditions. It is the system of rules that govern the social security act. It's not a moral judgement ffs. It's the law.

If OP is a partnered mother of 1 with a household income of £50k with absolutely no other qualifying conditions of entitlement then she will not qualify.
However if OP's DH loses his overtime and salary drops to 30k and /or her DH is disabled and in receipt of middle rate PIP (plenty of disabled people work) - then she could well be entitled to something if she claims a carers allowance. In fact she could be looking after an older relative in receipt of Attendance allowance which would also make her eligible .

We none of us know her exact circumstances.
50k is a lot if it's guaranteed, your outgoings are small and your circumstances straightforward. In all other circumstances it's wise to check. It cost nothing to make yourself aware.
