Second full day of our Centre Parcs holiday, just pulled back the bedroom curtains and noticed a tube of lubricating gel tucked in next to the frame.

I'm assuming this is a secret MN message and if so hello! I won't be partaking of any bum sex this time but thanks for thinking of me.

This led me to wonder, what's the weirdest thing you've found when arriving at a hotel, rental etc?

viques I also did a double take because I thought someone had cut and pasted one of my old posts - then realised it actually was mine prior to a name change Blush

A used contact lens on bathroom floor

Used condom down the side of a bed in a small town in Laos. When I complained, they came and removed it, then thought I was being unreasonable to ask to either move room, or have it cleaned properly!

@WellVersedInEtiquette why the hell would I PAY to stay in a hotel and do their housekeeping for them? I'm not a cleaner or maid Confused they pay staff to do that. I will put my rubbish in a bin, usually leave used towels in one pile etc as I'm not a slob but I've paid for a serviced room!

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 28/07/2019 19:58

Oh and I'm sure even if you wash stuff, it will all get washed again anyway as they won't take chances with what you've done.

@viques I just read the entire thread and you'd actually commented that before - I thought there's NO way someone else did that so scrolled back!

I had a friend to stay a few years back, she stayed on my sofa bed in my living room. On the final night she was staying she pulled a friend of mine. She had to leave for her flight at 5am in the morning, so she left before I got up, and so did he. I can only presume they left in the dark because when I went into the living room in the morning it looked like there’d been a massacre on the sofa bed. I presume too that they’d been too carried away to notice that she’d got her period and hadn’t turned the lights on? Crikey though, they must have done every position in the karma sutra to make that amount of mess.

I never mentioned it to her. And she never mentioned it to me.

Weird

We bought a second-hand board game (one from our childhood that was no longer in the shops) to play with our kids, which we did for about 3 years, until one day, a small part fell behind the plastic insert of the actual box. I lifted the plastic insert from the box to find it and... a pair of old granny knickers complete with a blood-stained sanitary pad hidden under the plastic insert. The most bizarre part was that I just picked up the dettol spray and started cleaning everything, as if we could just continue the game with a quick wipe-away of this bogging-board game treasure, until my husband gave me a ‘WTF??’ look and I just binned the lot. Shame though as bloody brilliant game and impossible to buy now...!!

Not as much of an idiot as the person who posts twice on the same thread! I know my memory is iffy, but ..........

Dried blood on the carpet in a recently refurbished hotel room in Miami.

Bathroom had a carpeted dressing area outside of it with a vanity desk and mirror etc, blood streaks over the carpet there I guess someone cut them self in bathroom and it wasn’t cleaned up.

Called front desk who sent someone up, he looked at it and shrugged, said it was dry now but if I was really that bothered he’d get me a new room but that he didn’t think it was a big deal 🤢🤮

Then left me to bring luggage to the new room by myself. Such great service 🙄

In an AirBnB in the New Forest. There was no bin in the bathroom (no towels or soap either), but there was a sort of wicker work tall boy next to the loo. Opened the drawers trying to find the missing towels, and discovered that previous guests had, presumably due to lack of bin, wrapped up numerous bloody tampons and towels in loo roll and dropped them in the drawers. It was rank.

Not holiday accomodation but a flat we bought.

Found house filled with their possessions - looked like they just walked out with a handbag and waller.
Furniture, kids clothes, toys, bed linen. 3 piece suite, which was later discovered was on HP.
These people shafted us and did a flit to avoid bailiffs. So when I found 'mum's new address' on a note in a drawer, I passed it on to the bailiffs, which reduced the constant stream of debt collectors at our door.
Cost us about 1000quid to dump all of their rubbish.(years ago )

I wouldn't wash the towels in a hotel but i will be doing all the stuff before I leave this apartment. Nice couple we rent off so I figure I'm helping out! Now wondering if they will just wash it all again anyway BlushHmm
