Second full day of our Centre Parcs holiday, just pulled back the bedroom curtains and noticed a tube of lubricating gel tucked in next to the frame.

I'm assuming this is a secret MN message and if so hello! I won't be partaking of any bum sex this time but thanks for thinking of me.

This led me to wonder, what's the weirdest thing you've found when arriving at a hotel, rental etc?

Bed bugs. Filthy motel in France. I could actually feel them biting me at night but half thought I was imagining it plus I was too tired to wake up properly.
The next morning I was covered in bites - I looked like I had measles. I complained to the manager and he shrugged. Zero shits given.

sprot · 31/08/2018 11:51

We moved into a rental property which still had all the owners belongings in it,kids school uniforms hanging in wardrobe etc.Even their car parked in the garden.
Looked like they had popped out for the day, apparently they had emigrated suddenly 🤨

Aprilsinparis · 31/08/2018 16:34

A pastry cutter in the shape of a gingerbread man???

7KidsnoTV · 31/08/2018 17:53

Booked into a Hotel in Holland, sat down to take my boots off and spotted some dirty underwear and shoes on the floor at the side of the bed. I went straight down to reception and demanded another room, If they had missed that on the floor, then there was no way that the room had been cleaned.

I used to own a Bed and Breakfast.

I could tell tales that would make you weep.

Any chance you are writing a book about it? That would sell! Grin

Not found anything but I’m into BDSM and due to having DD 21y still living at home, my (then) partner and I would book a hotel room every other weekend when my DS 6 was at his dads.

I must admit I did wonder if other guests would be able to hear us play and was always a bit Blush leaving the next morning.

Great fun though.

SmallPinkBear · 28/07/2019 13:22

Not found but left - my friend lived in a small flat and rarely used her car so sold it in the summer. It wasn’t until December she remembered that the Christmas tree and her decorations were stored in the boot!!

I worked briefly as a hotel cleaner many years ago. Went into a room I knew was checked out already to see blood. Everywhere. Bed smeared, towels soaked, sheets stained with it. The bathroom door tightly shut. I actually went down and insisted the owner opened the bathroom door, as I was sure there would be a body in the bath. They'd seen both occupiers that morning so knew it wouldn't be them. He opened the door and found the bath full of bloody towels, but no body.....a call to the checked out guests clarified the situation.....a burst varicose vein. Quite why the left me to find a bloodbath without saying what had happened was not explained.

I quit the same day.

KurriKurri · 28/07/2019 13:44

Used condom under the bed on a cruise.

When I complained I was asked ' how do you know it was used ' ? - answer 'because I am a grown up and know what spunk looks like.'
I got given a free meal in thier deluxe restaurant with my friend (not free drinks though) as compensation.

The maid was made to come and apologise to me and the poor girl was so upset and in tears, I ended up putting my arms round her, making her a cup of tea listening to her life story and slipping her ten dollars when her manager wasn't looking.

All in all a rather bizarre experience Grin

hellodarkness · 28/07/2019 13:52

I found a member of staff asleep in my bed.

When I opened the door and switched the light on, he woke with a start and did a sort of roaring noise that scared me to death.

Got upgraded to a suite and free food/drinks for the duration so was worth it really (he had been allocated the room to sleep in between shifts, was an accidental double booking).

Wallet under the pillow in a nice hotel on the south coast .
Hmm ! Bed not changed then ?

Room full of flies and a very pungent smell in Iceland . Opened the bedside drawer and there was a plastic bag of rotten fish ....ooh it was evil .

Arrived in Turkey in the early hours so hung back to let the family groups book in , I was travelling solo.
Manager asked if I would be happy to find my own room . Opened the door to find unmade bed and then saw a sleeping man in it !
Toddled back to reception who asked if I was sure !
Got another room but couldn’t work out how to lock it and was paranoid that someone would let themselves in .

Hotel in Ireland that was so disgusting and noisy . There was a shower in the corner of the room with a curtain that wouldn’t close as it was gunged together along the bottom. We stayed the one night and booked into an immaculate b&b .

I am not a fussy person and these were over a number of years .

Nanamilly · 28/07/2019 14:18

Never will I ever use a hotel kettle again!

Im not convinced people do this.

Why would they not use the hot water in the bathroom sink?

Nanamilly · 28/07/2019 14:20

@Bloodybridget I thought all hotels had a copy of the bible in hotel room drawers?

Yes. Provided by the Gideons.

MadamePompadour · 28/07/2019 14:22

A used thong in the pull out bed!

WellVersedInEtiquette · 28/07/2019 14:27

This is madness! Does no one else clear everything away when they stay in hotel rooms? I've been known to strip the bed myself before check out! I always collect all the rubbish bags and tie them off. Towels left in the bath. I'm away at the mo in an apartment and when I leave I'll have washed all the towels and the bedding will be in the machine or hung out to dry Blush

YoTheGinPussy · 28/07/2019 14:43

The bed full of scabs is the most revolting to me.

Stayed in a hotel in Brighton with a colleague years ago for a conference. She opened her door to be greeted by a naked man, she was very young and hysterical so screamed the hotel down. They did move her. The second night returned to my room to find blood stains on the walls and on the bed linen, not mine. Suspect they rented the rooms by the hour and had used the time we were out for extra money making opportunities.

hellodarkness · 28/07/2019 14:52

"This is madness! Does no one else clear everything away when they stay in hotel rooms? I've been known to strip the bed myself before check out!"

I pack up everything that's mine of course, but I don't strip the bed, tie off rubbish bins or wash towels like you do. TBH I'm not sure why anyone would. I've paid for the room and a % of that is for cleaning. Leaving it tidy - rubbish in bins etc - is all that's expected surely.

Boysey45 · 28/07/2019 15:04

A wrap of coke, we did it in before we went out for the evening.

When I was about 14 many decades ago, we went to a house off the coast of Kerry. It took hours to get there, so when we arrived we were all exhausted. The house did not live up to the description of 'luxury' accommodation via The Irish Times. Nothing was clean. Thankfully we had two cars and my mum had brought some clean sheets and bedding. Only enough for the children's beds though. All the beds had vomit stains and my parents just stripped them all. They sat on the chairs all night, nodding off now and again. We left the next day and got a great last deal in a gorgeous hotel nearby. All this was before the internet and mobile phones. We loved our week long stay in lap of a luxurious hotel. Will never forget that hotel (it's still there!)

Another time was a 'month in the country' type of holiday. They were wealthy and had let their house out for the month. The wife had left her diaries behind. They were a fabulous read. She had found her wealthy Mr Right.

Slingsanderrors · 28/07/2019 15:18

DH and I stayed at a Premier Inn the night before an early morning hospital procedure (it was January, weather was very bad and hospital over an hours drive away.)
There was a small leather bag under the bedside shelf, containing lube, condoms and something that I think was possibly a butt plug. I handed the bag into reception.

viques · 28/07/2019 15:37

Someone might have found the Hackney council library book I left in the very weird hotel in Athens I stayed in when my flight was delayed after nationwide power cuts. Mirrors along one wall beside the bed and on the ceiling?????

I found a gold crown for a large molar when pulling up the carpets in a house. It was very sharp on my poor knee.

viques · 28/07/2019 16:00

re reading some back pages and realised this is an old thread because I have already used my gold crown story!

Cwenthryth · 28/07/2019 16:20

Yes it was a zombie thread, that someone resurrected earlier in a kind of weird stealth boast that they had loud BDSM sessions in hotels. Good for them.

Hotel room with windows overlooking a lake, nice view. Pulled back the voile curtain to admire said view to be met with two big round orange marks on the window, at about chest height.....they were fake tan boob prints. Shock wonder what the previous occupants had been up to Hmm

Bloodybridget · 28/07/2019 16:46

@Nanamilly It was the sweets rather than the bible which surprised me!
